I have a day one switch on firm 2.1.0. Can it do Homebrew the same as a 5.0+ console? (can it run the same homebrew apps and function at the same speeds?). I'm asking because I want to use my day one model as a retro machine (retroarch) and that's it. I have a second switch I buy my switch games for so am not worried about exfat yada yada unless some homebrew needs it, but that idk.

AFAIK I would have to run pegaswitch as my way to HBmenu instead of a jig. are there any downside for being on a lower firm besides not having exfat?. Most users it seem have updated and pegaswitch seems outdated.

I've been reading and trying to keep up with the scene but it's kind of a jumbled mess at the moment and hard for me to follow.

Thanks for answers in advanced :)

The FG exploit works on all switchs prior to July this year in which they were ipatched consoles. Meaning for you with your 2.1 console all you need is a jig and the cfw files

Hi all,

I have a system on 5.1 having used ChoidujourNX to update from 3.0.2 (i didn't use NOGC though, like a fool, so my gamecard slot would be updated). I have AutoRCM active. I'm thinking of switching over from whatever i'm currently using (it's SDFiles using the Hekate boot loader, but i'm not actually sure what "fork" (if that's the right term) i'm using - here's the link if it helps https://pastebin.com/RR8hCg5K ) to atmosphere.

i have two questions;

1) How do i go about swapping over? I have visited SDSetup's website and tailored an appropriate package with hekate and atmosphere, plus homebrew goodies - i have some NSP files installed, what do i do to merge/replace the setup?

2) i'm not really concerned about bans if it's inevitable, as this system is just for messing around on - i have another release unit with nintendo switch online and all my retail carts, however i'm sort of interested in this having an internet connection and don't want to get banned if i don't have to. Making use of the FTP transfers, homebrew app store, etc is kind of appealing. What are the best steps to take to have some console internet activity, while avoiding nintendo functions? I don't need eshop access, don't have a NNID linked, don't want to play games online etc etc.

Thanks for your time,

Hi,
can any HB backup the profiles of the switch?
Either if I delete one of them or if I make a NAND restore, all savegame stored with Checkpoint became useless...

I don't understand the first part what exactly are you trying to do

2) 90dns blocks the nintendo servers still leaving net access

Thanks, re: 90dns. What I'm trying to do is swap from the cfw I've currently installed from the guide I linked, over to atmosphere's release (which I've packaged together from SDSetup)

Thanks again for the reply.

Looks like they used old sdsetupfiles. Just download the zip for the new files and overwrite the old ones with the new ones.

Hey, just finished hacking my switch with Reinx

What's the best way of obtaining games, do people just search online on the net?

Google I'm sure there is a reddit that can help you like this if you are having trouble *Click me*

Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying SX PRO kit. Are all of them are same ? ie there are no updated versions of sx pro kit, right?

I am using ReINX as my preferred CFW, so after I installed ChoiDujourNX to upgrade my 4.1.0 to 5.1.0 with AutoRCM enabled it stated that it added a hekate_ipl.ini to my SD Card and included a setting to PreventGCUpdate (Kip1patch=ngoc). When I inject my payload with ReINX.bin from TegraRcmGUI, and look under the ReINX Toolkit, under KIP Manager it has an "X" next to nogc. Should I be worried? I am not sure how Renix.bin calls out the hekate_ipl.ini (or if it even looks at that ini file).

All the same as you download their latest OS from their website. If you dont need their license key, you could just buy the sx gear which provides two quality items (jig + dongle) for entering rcm and then injecting payload of choice.

You only worry about the nogc patch if you updated your firmware from below 4.0 to above 4.0. Also, ReiNX loads kips differently than Hekate; it automatically loads any kips in the /ReiNX/sysmodules folder such as nogc.

Thanks, Draxzelex, appreciate your help.

Is there a trick or process or special program to use split xci files without SXOS? Im using FAT32 sd card, .Thx.

Finally decided to hack my 5.1.0 Switch but I just don't know where to start. Saw at least four CFWs (Atmosphére, Hekate, ReiNX, RajNX), two guides (https://guide.sdsetup.com/ and that one on Reddit posted 15 days ago I'm not sure I can link) and at least three SDfiles. So yeah, I don't need a full guide just would like some pointers which does what and where to start. Thanks in advance!

For starters, there are really only 3 distinct CFW available: Atmosphere, SX OS, and ReiNX. Hekate is not a CFW but a bootloader; its job is to run CFW. RajNX is a bastardization of Hekate and Atmosphere that was created to spite the legal ES patches ReiNX developed but for Atmosphere.

With the terminology out of the way, the sdsetup guide is probably the best one because it links you to all currently available CFW (not sure about SX OS since its behind a paywall); it can set you up with Atmosphere, ReiNX, or both.

My switch is currently on 5.x firmware, and I don't currently have any interest in hacking/homebrew/piracy, but I would like to keep my options available for doing it in the future. At the same time, I would really like to be able to updeate my games and play online and everything right now, and I don't want to risk getting my console banned for doing anything. Do I currently have options for this?
