Does anyone know of someone(or themselves), whom I could send my bricked wii console and nand to fix it? I bricked it by installing a bad system menu theme so I think you need to re flash the nand(not too sure myself).

Good Video.

SaveMiiFree. There are MANY articles. You have to modify a GameCube controller to be able to press up,down, left and right on the D-Pad simultaneously. I bought a shitty black "Micro" GameCube controller at Game-stop that worked out of the package. Shit for games, good for savemii. You need an auto-boot disc. Can't post here but you and find them at the usual places.

OP, you don't have a NAND backup and BootMii? If you had a good NAND backup and BootMii installed then you can fix it in minutes. Next time install priiloader and BootMii. Most guides insist you do so you may have it. Is there a "~bootmii" directory on the SD? remove the "~" and it will boot in to BootMii. you can restore your NAND .bin there if there is one in the SD root. Or you have one tucked away somewhere. There is also a tool called "ohneschwanzenegger" for PC you can use to build a NAND image to flash to your Wii if you have BootMii already and no NAND .bin.

How about if you hold reset while it boots? Does Priiloader (or Preloader) pop up? if so you can boot in to HBC and use an app to remove the offending installed theme. Just get the wad for whatever system menu you are on and install it with Multi Mod Manager or whatever is the current WAD installer.

It may sound difficult but you can probably fix it in an hour or two with minimal knowledge and effort.

I've NEVER seen anyone show that "SaveMii" thing works.

@DeadlyFoez Can unbrick consoles for a fee, I believe.

SaveMii was a dongle. It was custom built and it worked. Savemii Frii is the same thing using a GC controller. It also works. It's easy. I have done it a few times. BootMii is way better though. OP did you try seeing if you have Priloader or BootMii installed?

Yeah I know Bootmii was only as an Ios and I stupidly removed Priloader when I fixed my system menu previously by re-installing the system menu. I've also tried the GC controller, but any disc I tried to run would only load a black screen.

A video when someone breaks their wii intentionally and then uses a playstation dualshock controller to fix it. A+ :P

Seriously though. How are you supposed to press EVERY D-PAD BUTTON!? :wtf:

Also what is considered a brick, in the video, he just installed something? Like what about deleting a IOS, would that still work?

Sure. Show me evidence of it working. I've had at least 50 people respond the same way you did but nobody has ever proved it works. ;)

To boot a disc from recovery mode you need a modchip that sets the autoboot flag of the disc or use a WODE.

I have done it a few times, but it usually isn't all that helpful except for booting SSBB to be able to use the exploit and run homebrew.

Look man. I out of good faith, take my time and reply to tell you that you are wasting you time and you can fix it yourself.. You demand PROOF? Google it. 50 people tell you and you are still asking? Google it! lol. Due your due diligence. Google it man.

SaveMii from Team Twiizers (Thanks Marcan, RIP Bushing) It works. You can do SaveMii and build a device that goes in to the GC memory slot, or SaveMiiFrii and dismantle a GC Controller. Assuming you have a Wii with a working DVD drive and GC ports, not that Wii Mini shit.

I recommend SaveMiiFrii

For the record I never said you use a PSX controller. Although there is a video. Looks like it works. But IDK if that method works. Tried and true method is.. Use a GameCube controller. In GC Port 4. You must disassemble the controller so you can.....

"Press and HOLD UP+DOWN+LEFT+RIGHT SIMULTANEOUSLY DURING BOOT. With a recovery disc in the drive."

And, like I said, GameStop used to carry a piece of shit MadKatz Gamecube Controller that could press up down left right simultaneously out of the box for less than $10. Think I saw one at ROSS recently. What a piece of shit. But worked great as a SaveMiiFrii. Still have it. Might have been others too.

You might be able to use any disc with an update GREATER than what your Wii has currently installed but last I knew you needed an auto-boot recovery disk...

Google is your friend.

Also, get ModMii, go through the RE-HACK YOUR WII section, install BootMii (as boot 2 if possible) and Priiloader. MAKE A NAND BACKUP, Then you can fix bricks easily anytime. Once again Google it.

I've NEVER seen anyone show that "SaveMii" thing works.
It works for what it is supposed to do (which is rarely what people suggesting its use nowadays believe it to be)

1: It just makes the Wii Menu disable most of its features
2: In recovery mode, it will only try to start autobooting discs, after installing their updates
3: The autoboot flag is "ID6 starting with 0", which is located in the non-verifiable disc header, and from these sentences many conclusions can be extrapolated:

- It doesn't work if the Wii Menu executable can't start (bad boot1/2, Wii Menu title uninstalled, Wii Menu TMD selecting nonexisting/corrupted/stub IOS)
- It doesn't work if critical hardware is missing
- It works in case of banner bricks, mail bricks, (probably) theme bricks, semi bricks [wrong region], and already-working-fine systems (though for the last 2 cases, you wouldn't benefit from recovery mode anyway)

- You can run original autoboot discs (although none that would be helpful are publicly proven to exist)
- If you can run backup DVDs, but only signed ones (chip or ODE, + at least one signature-enforcing IOS between system menu's and game's), you can run games patched to be autobooting (a feature some chips even offered as a dipswitch option): and yes, I remember 2 people (somewhere in the Hackmii comments?) admitting to having used this for bannerbrick fixing! Fill the nand with saves and installable channels, next game boots wii menu directly to data management, uninstall channel...!
- If you can run unsigned backup discs (cioscorp, chip/ode + trucha-enabled wii menu IOS, wii menu running on CIOS and disc IOS requirement patched to also use a CIOS, ...) then you can just run homebrew, possibly with AHBPROT too, just by making your custom disc :)

Yes, installing Priiloader in advance covers 99.9% of the practical usages of recovery mode (except, uh, removing Priiloader while trying to fix a banner brick?), with no other trucha/backup dependencies too, but that doesn't mean recovery mode doesn't work, "just" that there are superior alternatives!
