Been using ReiNX for weeks without issue decided to try out Atmosphere 0.7 booted it and it doesn't even have hbmenu or ability to boot backups so I put the ReiNX files back and booted into ReiNX now it's broken 100% no hbmenu or backups....fuck me if I have to format to fix this that's literally 6+ hours of installing shit.... ARGH
1. You should have made a backup before installing Atmosphère.
2. This is a pre-release.
3. It was known since day one backup loading wasn't going to be implemented on the official build of Atmosphère.

Well, now that Atmosphere has been released, it's time for me to jump into homebrewing my Switch. I guess that many, many people who were waiting for a proper CFW will be joining the ranks of proud Atmosphere users :)
Lolol
Yeah jump in
You and the 9 people who were waiting for release

The hbmenu thing is because Atmosphere doesnt come with hbmenu, just drop the file attached to this into the atmsosphere folder and it should work

And I have no idea about the backup thing because I dont use backups :P

Appreciate the effort going into this and well done on finally making the first official release but I guess I'll be sticking with SX for now.
Can someone enlighten me if theres anything to this release that would warrant using it over the alternatives?
I guess my wait for a good emunand solution and cold boot are still in place.
Not being entitled, just voicing opinion.

Can we say with relative confidence that using Atmosphère instead of HOS would be invisible to Nintendo, given that you don't use it to do anything particularly weird with it like poisoning your tickets or similar stuff?
If i put Atmosphère on my switch and don't use it to play pirated games or install homebrew or cheat or use the debugger or whatever, and basically just go on to play with it as before and go online, would i be safe?

I guess what i'm asking is how closely / exhaustively it mirrors stock firmware behaviour, or how confident the devs are in its capability to do so.

TFW you make a GBAtemp account just to respond to this...

Not sure if you'll recognize me, but I'm one of the two community members who helped create the Atmosphère Wiki on GitHub with the help of the team. The other member CyberVision and I were not obligated to do this or anything like that. We decided to help with the Wiki because we wanted to help; You guys have spent months on end coding for Atmosphère, so if we could help take even a little bit of the huge workload you guys have to deal with, then that was good enough reason for us to help out however we could. The fact that people like us are willing to help you guys just for the sake of wanting to help shows me that what @SciresM, you and the rest of the team started as a simple project has become so much more. Atmosphère isn't just a custom firmware anymore, it's a community full of people that want all of you to succeed, and are willing to help however we can. I want you to know that no matter how much people might troll you guys, or add fuel to the fire, that for every drama starting, complaining member here, there is someone like me or CyberVision, who understand how intense a project like this is to undertake, and would gladly help out if it means making your job a little bit easier.

I wish nothing but the best for you and the rest of the team, and if you ever need anything, feel free to message me.

How could I not recognize you? You and CyberVision were fulcral in establishing a good documentation basis for the project.
Thank you for your work and words! :)

It appeared as if there was one.

I've worked on open source software and you have to have a pretty thick skin and discussing your plans is almost never a good idea. A third of the users will be zealots and worship the mere thought about the future release, a third of users will hate you and fight with the zealots, the other third won't care.

It seems to have mostly suffered from scoping problems, optimism always gets you.

Right, I totally understand what you mean. The whole June 15th should have never even been hinted at. Sadly, that was a decision from a no longer associated contributor and we had no choice but handle the fallout from that.

Anyway, Atmosphère is finally out and I'm very thankful for how people are receiving it, even though it may not be on par with other projects.
Now we can finally start revealing, in due time, the secret private goodies we've been working on... ;)

You can install nsp using atmosphere, only need to add the ES ips patches to the atmosphere folder
So for clarity, the patches you're talking about - I did a download from the sd-files setup website previously, in the atmosphere directory there's an exefs_patches directory, which contains "Signature Patches by Rajkosto" directory with a bunch of ips files. Does this same directory structure work with the 0.7 release, if the exefs_patches directory is put inside the atmosphere directory?

I don't see the point in dragging up the past too much, but when someone speaks for you then you can just say they are wrong.

@the_randomizer @hippy dave Yes, the exefs_patches of sdfiles works with atmosphere 0.7. For now the only thing that don't work is the nsp maked with modified ncas (like 4nxci nsp) because we need a patch for the fs.kip. Atmosphere have the option to patch kip with an ips patch but we need to make the patchs.

That makes little sense to me, I don't know what half those terms even mean, sorry, I'm just lost and sounds like a pain.
