Minecraft: Dungeons announced

Minecon Earth, a convention revolving around Minecraft is currently underway, and Microsoft’s Mojang has just announced their latest project: Minecraft Dungeons. A small collection of developers will be creating this entry within the Minecraft world, describing it as an action-adventure game that takes inspiration from classic dungeon crawler games. In the trailer, we see different terrains to explore, as well as new weapons to use, culminating with the tease of an intimidating boss creature. Minecraft Dungeons will be a PC exclusive for the time being, with a release in 2019, and will offer up to 4 player co-op.

Regular Minecraft will also be getting a major content update next year. Called Village and Pillage, it’ll add new villager types to the game, along with new types of cats and pandas.

Looks nice, I wish regular Minecraft looked like that with all those animations and lighting and stuff. I hope it'll be fun to play.

Can't they just let minecraft die quietly now ?
Die? Why would it die? It's been steadily getting more content over the years and still has an active player base. Just because it (mostly) faded out of mainstream that doesn't mean it's dead or dying. Same deal with Team Fortress 2.

Remember when Minecraft was just a single IP without any spinoffs and expansions?
That's actually when the game was good. now it's just a bucket of milk.

Minecraft has never been the same since it was sold to Microsoft. Now MC is just another IP for them to milk for all it's worth.

Man, Minecraft Story Mode 3 looka great

except Travelers Tales went bankrupt and out of buisness.
...also not to forget MCSM gets a Netflix adoption
Minecon Earth really couldn't hold my interest to look further, but I'm actually exited for this game.

Yea you're right. Why not kill the best selling game of all time that's still being in the top 5 best selling games of the week like every week? That'd be a genius buisness idea. The kids will love it. While you're at it just kill fortnite. Actually stop making video games at all.

There is a fine line between making quality content and making crap just for the sake of it, just because they know the name is gonna sell it alone. I've personally never seen the appeal of Fortnite, played it for a couple of hours and won a few solo games and got bored. I wouldn't say that its a bad game just not to my tastes. I just think companies these days rely too much time producing sequels and spinoffs, Hollywood suffers from the same thing. Companies are afraid of taking risks and are content to push out the same crap year after year after year with minor incremental changes or making something new and slapping an existing IP on it just for name recognition

It's over. Kids moved on to Fortnite - you can't compete with "free". Unless this is another "free to play" scam, it's not going to be particularly successful.

Geez people really are ungrateful. There was no way for them to ever do crossplay or get the Better Bedrock versions on all consoles if that had not happened.

It's Telltale Games. Traveler's Tales will never die because they exclusively make LEGO games now.

Wii Sports is the best selling game of all time.

Nevertheless, Minecraft has been getting better overall. The Bedrock version is a godsend, and the new game looks cool too. It looks like it will be isometric in some parts of the video, but I hope it's like that one Adventure Time game that came out a few years back but actually done well.
