With the discount code I got mine for approximately $11. So to build one for myself I would have saved $6, but minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. It would probably take me an hour.

sure sure, you need the board and the cell battery and usb c and the tools and the experience to do all that.
i think that cost more than $5, also the time and the gas to go to where they sells thsoe stuff in the city.

in many people's options, they still have to buy the board and the shipping for that board.

I previously purchased the RCM-X86 dongle thru Ali (thats the other Chinese model with a/c ports on each end). I like that dongle and after placing a pin hole in it with a small tool I am able to hit the reset button without taking it apart.

I went ahead and ordered this NS-Atmosphere dongle. I like that they have a handy payload loading tool. I like the power switch and jig holder. Also they have a support website (the RCM-x86 does have a github page)that pretty decent. The worked out tutorials for programming their dongle, and for converting xci to .nsp. They also do have a custom packaged version of reinx which is very easy to install and use with their dongle. Overall for $15 its a good deal and pretty easy to use for noobs.

What was your experience with shipping? How long did it ultimately take from order placed and payed to the package in your mailbox? I payed mine on the 25th of August via Paypal and it didn't leave China yet, so I wanted to ask just out of curiosity

It depends. How inter continental shipping usually works is that you have a couple of planes, one going to Australia, Europa, Northern America and so forth. They wait till enough orders for that area come through and the plane is filled up before they fly it out. If you order at the time when the plane is almost full but if you do order at a time the plane is still going to be relatively empty it will take a bit longer. Companies wait till they have enough to ship out on a plane because that does cost a lot money. Your order was probably placed when there weren't enough packages yet to be shipped out. If that is the case it can take up to a maximum give or take of 6 weeks. I was lucky since mine arrived in less then 2 weeks.

Thanks, I am not a regular in china-based only shops like Aliexpress and I read that it takes 10-30 days when I placed my order but was surprised that guys on reddit and so on all received their dongle in 7-12 days

Damn it. I saw the release of the reinx 1.6. I wanted to install it with the ns-atmosphere. So I followed the reinx guide. But at the point of loading the payload I updated the payload to reinx.bin on the ns-atmosphere. I connected the jig, pressed on In the injector, volume+ and power button. The text appeared, reinx logo showed up and then black screen. Nothing showing after. I removed the jig and the injector. Black screen. No matter what i hold.

What do I do? Any ideas?

Edit: now after a few minutes, I connected the switch to charge it (battery 54%) without sd card inside, and the switch turned on.

I never started the switch with an ad card installed before. Should I instead the sd card while in horizon?

No you need the SD files from REINX on your sdcard. The dongle itself works seeing you can boot it up through RCM. I suggest you go over to the REINX thread since there is a guide on there how to set it up. But you always need an sd ofcourse since it reads the files needed for cfw from your sd card

Do I have to have the Reinx.bin file in the root of the sd card, if I am injecting it through the injector?

So I did. Back when we had to downgrade to FW 2.1 to get the OTP I did it in two 3DS systems so I think I know how to follow guides.

I will try later. Was in a bit of a rush to follow the guide as I had to leave.

You all may be able to buy a dongle for 10 dollar or make for 5 dollar however I can conjure a dongle for free out of time and space.

Well you could always check if your computer didn't write the payload correctly by using tegra on the pc itself to see if it boots correctly. If it still doesn't boot correctly then it has to do with your sd card being faulty or the files not being set up correctly

Reading in the guide is saying that I should make sure my switch has the exfat update present. In my case I did not install the exfat update that the switch prompts. That my be the issue. I just hope if I do that it does not upgrade my switch past 4.1 I have it in airplane mode anyways
