I don't know how many times since I've been modding consoles in various scenes have I seen the phrase. Don't update until you know it's safe. Look what happened recently with the 3ds 11.8 broke luma.

Trusting someone who's already proven their worth over someone who's lied to the community countless times? Gary has proven himself to be dishonest and there's no reason to take his word for anything. If I see his name attached to any kind of "leaks" or "future update" posts, I am going to request at least a second source (preferably a proven trusted source) to backup those claims. Otherwise I will treat any claims he makes the same way I treated his Gateway claims.

Implicitly trusting someone because you haven't caught them out yet and never trusting someone because of bad experience in the past is pretty black and white thinking.

Maybe he should be more careful next time he got some news.
It's one thing to tell a lie or even a few of them, it's another to make claims for over 2 year to continue to push the sales/support for a product, lie about the team behind products, lie about devs being involved in projects, and avoid people when then they call you on those lies. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the issues involved with Gary. He created his own bad reputation through his actions.

Well, thank you, I'm waiting firmware 1.6 even if I do not need it now and I wait for the return to know what Nintendo will try to do, but hey ... a hardware flaw, remains a hardware flaw, all software that it is, to be executed on a hardware, and it is this same hardware which is corrupted, therefore? well i'm waiting for you, playing stelth off-line solo airplane mode, so many amazing games !!!
Then I hope that from now on that Gary is the sole source of all news, so you can build a reputation of saltiness.
I'd love to know what benefit you think Gary would have preventing you from updating to 6.0

From my experience, impatience in the world of console editing who have access to the internet, we always ended up paying the high price, superban? played before others? monster hunter? homebrew before blocking dns? etc., the impatient are useful they are like the first days of aviation, he throw himself off a cliff, he pedal, then either he cracks dead, be alive, or he fly and caretaker the heavens

It's not the actions of advising people not to update, that's common sense. It's the claims behind the update that I am calling into question. Gary has a long history of baseless claims, that when the time came never delivered.
Just because you are choosing to ignore his history, doesn't make you correct. He created a history of making baseless claims or just flat lying when there was nothing to gain from lying (like claiming the Gateway team wasn't involved with Stargate. Or claiming the community devs helped the Gateway Team with the CFW update for for Stargate, when it was really just one dude on his forums.) I don't know his motivation behind his actions, but that doesn't change the fact that he has a history. Maybe what he says will happen in 6.0, but we won't know until hits. Until then I am going to be skeptical of any claims he makes until proven otherwise.

Everyone has history. I've dealt with people who lie far more often and yet they still often tell the truth.
Sure, even if what he said is true today doesn't mean Nintendo will release it. All of the things they said have been speculated by other people already, if he's involved with Team Xecuter then this news is not good for them.

What benefits did he have with his previous claims? I can't answer on his motivations and I won't answer on them because it's not important. Why he does anything isn't relevant to my reasons to be skeptical of his claims.
That doesn't make any sense. My reasons to not trust him is based on evidence of his actions, evidence that can be easily found just by going through his forums and even through his posts on this site. Deliberately ignoring this evidence and going after me doesn't change anything. Your logic here is basically just willful ignorance and comes off more as petty fanboyism.

That's not even a remotely reasonable argument nor doesn't it change anything that I've said.
If Nintendo doesn't release it, then his claims will be false again. If they do release it and it follows his speculation, then he's actually got some crediblity. Regardless that doesn't mean anything about his past actions.
I am going to question your motives here. Why does it matter that I don't trust him and I think there needs to be more evidence to backup his claims? Why do you feel like he needs to be taken at face value? You seem to really want me to convince me that there's no reason to question Gary, why? You've done nothing to prove that my reasons to distrust him are in the wrong, you've just gone after my posts with petty arguments.

Hi guys. I am very new to the Switch Hacking scene. I ordered a Jig from Amazon yesterday and hope to join in on the fun early next week. Anyway, how should I go about avoiding updating? Is it as easy as keeping system in airplane mode? Any help greatly appreciated
