I’m not banned, still. I’m baffled. Other then not touching LayeredFS and not playing online MP games, I’ve been asking for it. I’m often too lazy to go into OFW when updating. Hell today when I checked to see if I was banned I was in CFW since I was sure I would be. I’ve crashed homebrew about a million times thanks to trying things docked, using macOS, and exFAT. I’ve mass updated tens of XCIs and NSPs. I’ve used FTP for hours. SX OS since a few days after launch.

I keep wondering if I’m somewhat shielded by the fact that I’ve been buying games on the eShop and I keep my credit card information stored. Sounds stupid, probably is, but how am I not banned?

I think sticking to XCI and staying in airplane mode while in SXOS really helps a lot to not get banned.

Because NINTENDO.

I know what I should do. I should call Nintendo, admit my malfeasance point by point, read off my serial number, record the whole conversation bcs the rep will be utterly baffled...and then proceed to never be banned because that is definitely the most Because Nintendo thing I could possibly think of.

I can't track the posts down right now, but I've seen a SEVERAL where people were just asking to be banned (updating in CFW, having installed NSPs and playing them without going into airplane mode, etc) but just never got hit, AND more importantly, they ALL claimed they've bought lots of games on the eShop.

I'm starting to think Nintendo has programmed a bit of leeway into their flagging, where someone who has obviously spent a considerable amount on the eShop gets a free pass or two (or maybe it's even a complex formula like they overlook pirated titles if the total cost is less than half of what you've spent... or something like that). Or it's a basic threshold, like spend $500 on games, and ban waves skip you.

Maybe @Draxzelex can start asking in questionnaire how much you've spent in the eShop (in USD)
Although this is the kind of thing where if it becomes public enough, it can stop working, so I dunno.
Just a thought.

If you want THAT hard to get in trouble, just rob a bank, I am sure you will get the results you are looking for much faster. They might let you bring your Switch with you if you are nice enough with the cops.

So my CFW switch was normal banned, but it's been offline. Is the new super ban wave proven to auto target all previous offenders? Seems that way so far...is there a point to continuing to avoid going online for updates at this time, or is it likely that as soon as I try, BAM! This is an unfortunate turn of events, I expected this move but not quite so soon :/

A few questions/ideas (sorry if this has been asked, but the search was quite inundating in results so I suppose I didn't query properly);

1) AUTORCM: Has anyone enabled AutoRCM and then been banned from Nintendo after going online with Horizon (the default firmware) booted from SX OS' loader?

2) NSPs and 'UPGRADE' ONLINE: Someone stated they were banned for having installed a NSP via Tinfoil or the like and taking the Switch online, thereby allowing the game to attempt to update automatically and, I figure, tipping off Nintendo. Is there a way to prevent apps from attempting upgrades aside from disabling WiFi on the device?

3) Any other tips/tricks anyone is aware of? Has anyone discovered a particular 'integrity server' the Switch may be communicating with, aside from the normal Nintendo servers, that could be targeted for blocking at the DNS or router level?

Thanks,

Dataslanger

Almost nothing. What I’ve been doing (as a test) is buying super cheap games approximately once a week from the MX eShop. In fact I did so yesterday when I went online to check for the ban. And some of these are really cheap. Like less than $1 USD.

3rd update :

tx os user, never used that layered fs thing.
mainly playing nsps

once accidentally ran a nsp while in OFW (which resulted in an error) and i was online!!

and i reboot into ofw to check eshop, and no ban.

downloaded some demos some weeks ago to test out and was still fine. (db fighterz played online) that went fine too.

now in ofw downloaded paladins and playing online and it's still all good.

Yea and no system update.
wow this is scary, how do you get a superban ? o.o
this is bad for "new games"

Before, it was by using a banned/(non-banned?) cert on dl software (freeshop, etc)
However, now, console bans become superban for apparently no reasons.
