Before, it was by using a banned/(non-banned?) cert on dl software (freeshop, etc)
However, now, console bans become superban for apparently no reasons.

The reason is Bob and the GUI he made, and the public cert sharing. If you want to be mad at someone for the ban escalation, be mad at him and the piracy discord that was propagating the public certs.

By nuking all bans to superbans, you don't have to worry about public certs for very long.

A few questions/ideas (sorry if this has been asked, but the search was quite inundating in results so I suppose I didn't query properly);

1) AUTORCM: Has anyone enabled AutoRCM and then been banned from Nintendo after going online with Horizon (the default firmware) booted from SX OS' loader?

2) NSPs and 'UPGRADE' ONLINE: Someone stated they were banned for having installed a NSP via Tinfoil or the like and taking the Switch online, thereby allowing the game to attempt to update automatically and, I figure, tipping off Nintendo. Is there a way to prevent apps from attempting upgrades aside from disabling WiFi on the device?

3) Any other tips/tricks anyone is aware of? Has anyone discovered a particular 'integrity server' the Switch may be communicating with, aside from the normal Nintendo servers, that could be targeted for blocking at the DNS or router level?

Thanks,

Dataslanger
  1. No
  2. You can use a custom DNS server that will redirect certain URLs such as 90DNS, ReSwitched's DNS Server, and SwitchBrew's DNS Server
  3. The best way to avoid a ban for now is making a clean NAND backup before hacking and restoring it prior to going online. If you had not made one already and the console is hacked, you COULD use ChoiDujourNX to install firmware update files that may clean the NAND a bit but we're unsure if it makes entirely clean NANDs like a clean NAND backup.

I can't track the posts down right now, but I've seen a SEVERAL where people were just asking to be banned (updating in CFW, having installed NSPs and playing them without going into airplane mode, etc) but just never got hit, AND more importantly, they ALL claimed they've bought lots of games on the eShop.

I'm starting to think Nintendo has programmed a bit of leeway into their flagging, where someone who has obviously spent a considerable amount on the eShop gets a free pass or two (or maybe it's even a complex formula like they overlook pirated titles if the total cost is less than half of what you've spent... or something like that). Or it's a basic threshold, like spend $500 on games, and ban waves skip you.

Maybe @Draxzelex can start asking in questionnaire how much you've spent in the eShop (in USD)
Although this is the kind of thing where if it becomes public enough, it can stop working, so I dunno.
Just a thought.
It is actually divided into tier lists similar to Patreon where the more money you spend, the more benefits you receive. See below for a full breakdown.
Tier 1: $0-$69 = Ban is decided if you 100% completed Super Mario Odyssey or not
Tier 2: $69-$200 = Nintendo ignores all error logs and homebrew-related reports
Tier 3: $200-$420 = User receives warnings via e-mail about impending bans, moves to a 3-strike system with a window of 1 week to correct misbehavior
Tier 4: >$420 = Full access to Switch telemetry via online Nintendo Account

If i can "download" demos ("Thank You" pop up) from the web store i am safe?
For the time being, yes.
I guess my regular ban got elevated to a superban. Odd, as I didn't touch FreeshopNX or anything involving my cert.
Can you please submit a full report when you get a chance?

Whatever I just posted is 100% a shitpost. However, the theory behind the shitpost is not entirely alien. Nintendo is a business after all and even if someone is violating their ToS, as long as they're making Nintendo money, it might do more harm than good if they were to ban said users. But its still only a theory.

I kinda knew but forgot to say if it was a joke :P

Additional Comments
I'm using ReiNX offline since 2 weeks, but a guy on Reddit said that he took a superban while staying offline, so i freaked out and did a NAND Restore to check if I were too.
I'm pretty sure he was lying and that he went online somehow but I needed to be sure.
I hope it somehow helped, and sorry if i did some mistakes, my English is still pretty WIP lel

Almost nothing. What I’ve been doing (as a test) is buying super cheap games approximately once a week from the MX eShop. In fact I did so yesterday when I went online to check for the ban. And some of these are really cheap. Like less than $1 USD.
Do you always use your Switch with your MX account? Maybe NoA isn't looking at MX accounts as much

No, it's cycled between NA, JP, and MX. I only started this kind of thing of buying cheap games every other week or so about a month or two ago. Obviously not a scientific study here but I figured a few bucks here and there just to see what happens is no big deal.

Does bring up an interesting question: when (not if) I get banned, am I unable to remove my credit card info from that eShop profile/account since the ban blocks online access?

You could have restored that NAND before you went online to save yourself from a ban but I guess now its only good for recovering from a brick. Also I would like some clarification on the answers for these questions. More specifically: what was the lowest version of SX OS you used, if you updated backups in CFW or OFW, and if you cleared error logs on 5.1.

It would appear so. It makes sense since this prevents anyone from abusing CDN downloading even after a normal console ban.
make sense

but i notice that everyone who gets a superban:

use layredfs
use freeshopnx
play online while cfw
install manually a switch update with burn the fuse thing

several other who use normally, get the normal ban or dont get banned at all
like me... till yesterday i dont get banned
when i get home i'll check
