My switch serial is XAW100(XXXXX)
-I Also have a jig (got to look for it as i misplaced it)
-A Usb-C cord

Been lurking here for quite some time over the years. Recently "hacked" both my 3ds and my girls and decided to see if anything was out for the switch yet.
I'm currently on 3.0.0 since I updated my console shortly after release from 1.0. Wondering if I should actually read up on what's out or just check back in a few months to see if CFW is out etc. Any opinions? I'm in no rush to use or need my switch just normally find my consoles more enjoyable once hacked with CFW and all the options it brings with themes etc.

tl;dr - bother messing with switch now or just wait for it's hacking scene to mature a bit more and be "safer"?

It depends on what you want to do. There are already many options of "CFW" available which enable you to load homebrew and backups, I've been using RajNX but you can check ReiNX too. First install TegraSmashGUI and the drivers for the Switch in your PC, then enter RCM and connect it to the PC, with TegraSmashGUI you inject the payload (.bin) you want, and I strongly recommend you delete the wifi settings and do a nand backup first (to unbrick the switch if anything goes wrong or to be able to go online in the future), you can inject either Hekate CTCaer mod or the RajNX payloads for the nand backup. Once you do the backup, save the three files in your PC and then load your preferred CFW payload and use homebrew as you please. For installing backups use the latest release of Tinfoil which installs .nsp files that you need to get from somewhere else. It is almost guaranteed that if you go online once after installing backups or modifying games, your console will be banned from online functionality. If you remain offline while in CFW, you can always restore your clean nand backup and go online just fine but everything saved to the console after the nand backup will be wiped. If you don't care about being banned just go online whenever you want. The only way I'd recommend getting SX Pro is if you find annoying having to inject the payload from your PC for each boot, so instead you use the dongle. Other than that you can do basically the same things with RajNX and ReiNX.

There's already a lot you can do now but since you are in 3.0.0, I advise you NOT TO UPDATE (in OFW) any further because, reportedly, there will be a coldboot exploit in the future which will enable you to load CFW without entering RCM. So you can either wait like this until this exploit is released (no estimated date, could be months or a year) or if you want to hack it now, you need to do a nand backup of your 3.0.0 system using Hekate or RajNX, then load any CFW. There's no way to change or modify themes on Switch at the moment, with the CFW available you can load homebrew emulators, backup and restore game saves and install and play game backups (you could only play <3.0.0 games. There's another option which is also doing the 3.0.0 backup, then use ChoiDuJourNX to update to FW 5.1 without burning fuses and that way you can play the most recent game backups and later restore your 3.0.0 nand to use the future exploit. But this involves installing AutoRCM which can give you battery inconveniences and it deactivates your gamecard slot so you can't play original carts until you go back to 3.0.0. Read what I wrote above regarding bans which is another thing to look out for.

Hope this helps.

I'm afraid you can't do anything until a new exploit is released, which it could be months from now. Nobody knows. Both SX OS or any other CFW with homebrew support will need a working exploit in your console. You could sell the patched Switch and try to get a pre owned one which is vulnerable to Fusee Gelee as another option if you don't wanna wait. Your other option would be to wait without updating because Deja Vu only works in 4.1 or lower if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think he can get into the Homebrew menu to use ChoiDujourNX if his console is patched, so I'm pretty sure he can't do anything for the moment.

Thanks, I'll guess I'll just have to wait it out.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Well for starters, since you are going to be using SX OS, I'd take a look at Team executers own website, https://team-xecuter.com/ to keep track of any updates. Also, here's an article stating Team Executers progress on the new "Unhackable" Switches:

https://team-xecuter.com/team-xecuter-versus-the-unhackable-switch/

Normally I'd also tell you to stay on 4.1 and not update it further, since there is an as of yet unreleased exploit known as Deja Vu" that will work on Switches of that Firmware. But I don't know if this is relevant since you are using SX OS.

What you CAN do however, is to update your Switch to 5.1.0 using ChoiDujour NX. This prevents burning any fuses in your Switch and thus you will be able to downgrade at a later date to use Deja Vu: https://gbatemp.net/threads/choiduj...ller-homebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/

Thanks for the info!

Hi , I just bought a larger micro SD to upgrade from my actual 64gb sd.
Can I simple copy the files from the old sd to the new ? Or must I reconfigure all and treat like a new one ?

Just copy it over. As long as you have you have your fat32/ExFat situation in order there should be no problems.

The new Hekate bootloader v4 just came out. Does anyone knows if this can be ran on patched consoles?
There was nothing in the change log about that.

Please do not mix up with exploits and hacks. Hekate bootloader is a hack. Fusee Gelee is an exploit. To use Hekate, you need to use an exploit similar to Fusee Gelee such as TegraRCMSmash. The patched consoles prevent Fusee Gelee and all of its derivatives from working because it patched the bootrom of those Switch units which the Fusee Gelee exploit works upon. So the only way to make Hekate and other hacks work is by discovering a new exploit in the bootrom like Fusee Gelee.

How safe is to play legit bought eshop games online and go online as well, after restoring a clean nand backup done with TegraRCMGUI and a payload (Hekate for example) ?

99% safe; there is nothing so far that is safer than restoring a hack-free clean NAND prior to going online.

Some noob questions. If i inject a payload to do the nand backup isn't the switch already "hacked" and not clean anymore? And can you explain or send a guide how to do the process of restoring a switch to a non-hacked state? I currently have 4 accounts associated with my non-hacked Switch. Should I unlink and/or delete all of them before trying any type of hacking? And if i want to remove all the hacks and use the switch normally, as it was before any kind of hack, i just need to restore the clean nand and download my legit games from eshop again?

Yes, but this is the least involved hack meaning we are taking the chance Nintendo isn't banning people for merely injecting a payload. If someone were to get banned doing this, then that truly means no one is safe as Nintendo is able to detect the first part of the hacking chain meaning we're all safe. But so far this has not happened yet so its safe to assume this will keep most, if not all, of us not banned.

As for restoring the NAND, here is a guide you can follow.

I'd unlink any Accounts from consoles that are going to be hacked especially if they contain valuable purchases. Its not easy to unlink a Nintendo Account from a console once its banned. You would have to phone up Nintendo to do so.

And yes, just restore the clean NAND to remove 99% of all hacks. Keep in mind that doing so will not only wipe all of your eShop games, but also your save, updates, and DLC data.

Hey Guys!

I posted in another thread (https: // gbatemp.net/threads/corrupted-data-was-found-error-2016-0602-is-this-normal.515548/) but I'm not sure if it's related to SX OS or it's an issue with my console/sd card. Anybody had any problems with NSPs installed in Switch's internal memory?

Oh my god, thanks. This explanation was very enlightening. Just one more question, should i just unlink or unlink and delete the accounts? If i just unlink can i link it again and play for example Breath of the Wild without losing my save file?

According to Nintendo's website, it appears to be unrelated to hacking: https://en-americas-support.nintend...d/26953/~/error-codes:-2016-0601-to-2016-0602

I would just set up a fake account on the console, you know one that you don't mind losing. This way they can't track any hacking to you (Nintendo most likely does not track IP addresses) and you retain online functionality of the console up until its banned.

So when you install NSP's in Switch internal storage and check the data in Data Management it doesn't show that it's corrupt on your console? I just did NAND backup and verification on the same SD card and it went perfectly fine.

Is there a way to force deleting a user on my Switch either through homebrew apps or Nintendo’s websites?

When I try to delete through it through the actual settings on the console, it asks me to unlink my account first, which I need to do by connecting the switch to the net. I connected first time to WiFi yesterday, since hacking my console so I’m probably flagged for being naughty. I get annoyed when it asks me which user do you want to play as. I just want one account so it doesn’t ask me.

I have just one (1) question: When is it safe to remove the jig? I'm really scared about the paperclip I'm using, since it's pressing against the pins. Just paranoid.
