If you copied boot.firm to CTRNAND, which is one of the steps on the 3ds.guide installation guide, you’ll need to also do that again, or you’ll get the same error if you try to boot without an SD card.

Hi sorry, I'm dumb. I was only able to follow the 3ds.guide because it was crystal clear and every part was spelled out specifically. Which step of the guide is this that I should repeat? I was thinking it was this one: https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s#section-vi---ctrnand-luma3ds but I don't seem to have those script options it lists anymore.

Yeah it's that section. The setup_ctrnand script is supposed to be on GM9Megascript.

You could also just use FBI.

Hm. Did the "Cleanup SD Card" section right after that maybe remove the scripts? Also, when you "use FBI" do you mean open up FBI and choose the "CTR NAND" option on the root menu there? It says that modifying the NAND is dangerous, so I want to make sure I'm hitting the exact right buttons... sorry to be a bother.

If you don't have the scripts just download the GodMode9 .zip file and replace your gm9 folder with the one here.

For FBI, I think it's something like SD > Press A over the boot.firm > Copy > Go to the main FBI menu > CTRNAND > Press A over current directory > Paste.

ok so i have the error message, and i don't know how to fix it

my console (N3DS XL) was hacked in 11.3 with the SoundHax and i don't have any clue on how to know if i'm in AL9H or B9S (i did all those things a long time ago, didn't updated my console and programmes for a while)
it worked perfectly then i upgraded and now, that error message shows up... but if i remove my SD and plug it back in the main menu, all the tiles show up and i'm able to play again. After around 30min, the console gets weird then shut off...

On all the threads i found, i already tried
- replace the "boot.firm", i had none (only a boot.3dsx) and adding it changed nothing
- using LumaUpdater, the app launch but crashes
- Holding "start" on boot to launch SafeB9SInstaller => when i hold start, an app called "Hourglass9 v1.35" launches...
- can't launch the Homebrew menu from the homepage (once again, the app is on an older version i guess...)

does anyone have an idea?

Thanks
PS: English isn't my first language, so sorry if some of my sentences sounds like "baby-talk"

Hi there, I'm a shmuck. If you're a boss and want to hold my hand through fixing my machine please add me on discord at Midoki#4902.

Anyways, I replaced the boot.firm to no avail. I'm currently following the 3ds.guide for GodMode9 but I'm having issues. Any advice for a newbie?

just download the latest luma3ds nightly and replace the boot.firm on the root of your sd card
This is happening to me but when I try to download the file it asks what application to open it with. I got my nintendo3ds from a friend and don't have any of the software on my computer. How can I open it, and how can I open the SD card on my 3ds to copy it to?

Just put the boot.firm file on the root of your SD card. Or in layman's terms: copy it to your SD card, but don't put it in a folder. You don't have to open the file on your PC.

I need help my 2DS wont work after updating to 11.8, I've tried getting Luma 9.0 boot.firm and I'm stuck on its config cant boot to 2DS firmware and If i try to install Luma 9.1 my 2DS would turn on then off instantly. Help

What Luma version did you previously have?

For people having the same issue. I probably had Luma3DS 1.8.1 before trying the 1.9 release which caused the issue as above.
The boot file from this nightly fixed it for me instead of the release bootrom, can't post link to the nightly but the version was: 82-luma3ds-2219b19

Wait for a new release of Luma. When it comes out, replace the boot.firm on your SD card with the new Luma’s boot.firm.

If you copied boot.firm to CTRNAND, which is one of the steps on the 3ds.guide installation guide, you’ll need to also do that again, or you’ll get the same error if you try to boot without an SD card.

Thanks very much, grettings from Spain !!!

So I previously had the same firm1 error. I updated to latest 11.8, and stable Luma version. Toad Tracker is the only game I have that crashes immediately upon launching, giving a fatal error in the Luma crash page.
Any idea why?

Not very good with tech here, I put the boot.firm onto my sd and it works fine but my system version says ver again rather than sys... is this fine or is there something else I should do?
