Hacking Update 11.8 - Failed to Apply 1 Firm patch(es)

So I forget to update my 3ds to 11.7 for half a year without using it, and I wanted to buy a game on the eshop, and then it appearts to be a new update, so when my 3ds restart it just shows:

"An error has ocurred: Failed to apply 1 Firm patch(es). Press any button to shutdown"

Am I screwd?

Wait for a new release of Luma. When it comes out, replace the boot.firm on your SD card with the new Luma’s boot.firm.

If you copied boot.firm to CTRNAND, which is one of the steps on the 3ds.guide installation guide, you’ll need to also do that again, or you’ll get the same error if you try to boot without an SD card.

just download the latest luma3ds nightly and replace the boot.firm on the root of your sd card

My kid apparently installed an update. I got it working and let him know not to do that in the future.

I don't know how crucial this is, but it says to do this on the luma configuration menu.

Use the (A) button and the D-Pad to turn on the following:

• “Show NAND or user string in System Settings”

It's an user preference (and one well documented in Luma's wiki on github): do you want the "Ver." text replaced? say yes if you do, no if you don't

that setting just makes it show SYS instead of VER in system settings to show cfw is running on SYS nand

Thought I'd join this thread, is there anyone who can walk me thru this? I downloaded the source code and boot.firm. Where is the file on the micro sd? I inserted it into my computer and could not find boot.firm is it labeled under a different name? There wasnt anything in any of the folders on the sd card.

I need help my 2DS wont work after updating to 11.8, I've tried getting Luma 9.0 boot.firm and I'm stuck on its config cant boot to 2DS firmware and If i try to install Luma 9.1 my 2DS would turn on then off instantly. Help

Download this .7z file and put the boot.firm file on the root of your SD card.

I prefer to put it at the root of CTRNAND so the SD card is cleaner. I only have a "Nintendo 3DS" folder on my SD.
When booted from CTRNAND the luma folder is /rw/luma and you put payloads etc there. The rest is the same.
