Assuming exfat update is not part of firmware but some additional add-on, and these exfat addon files are generic for any firmware, does that mean you can update a 1.0.0 without exfat to 5.1.0 firmware with exfat included with this tool and then downgrade back to 1.0.0 and keep the exfat bit?
I'm probably wrong in my original assumption, just curious if it's possible to get exfat update to 1.0.0 somehow.

You are wrong in everything you've said.
You can never have exFAT support in 1.0.0. Ever.
So the exfat update is tied to the firm. I thought it was a separate thing. nvm, thanks for confirming.

You added a lline after I posted there.. So why can't 1.0.0 have exfat at all if you say updated as soon as you got it day one before 2.0.0 was out?

I updated by mistake the cartridge controller from 2.3.0 so maybe my opinion is biased but i don't see any negative consequences. You can use the cartridges on newer firmwares, maybe games that in 2.3 wouldn't work. With the emunand, if we will have one, with probability that firmware will be updated too.
Eventually for a warmboot, for the people with 1.0.0 can be a problem because they need puyo puyo for the browser, but 2.3 doesn't has this problem.

With backup loading available you don't need a Puyo cart

What version of autorcm does this app enable? Brickmii?

Does it drain battery faster like the one with sx os?

AutoRCM itself doesn't drain the battery.
The fact that in many cases the Switch doesn't really turn off but goes in RCM after shutting down is what's causing the drain.
Fixes are simple:
  • keep it in standby
    or
  • use hekate or SX Pro bootmenu and there the power off option*
* make sure to remove the USB cable / SX Pro dongle before you do so because attaching something to the USB-C port sometimes causes the Switch to "boot".

I didn't know this. If we have autorcm activated and then we power off with hekate's option, next time we power on it boots in stock firmware? Or it goes into RCM?

It'll boot into RCM. Shutting down via hekate just ensures your console is properly shut down, hence, won't drain battery juice.

No matter how you turn off your Switch, being it by hekate, SX Pro boot menu or holding the power button for over 12 seconds, you can't boot into stock FW accidentally if AutoRCM is enabled. It always boots into RCM and nothing else. That's what it's all about.
You can boot into stock FW from hekate and SX Pro boot menu though but that won't burn fuses as it skips the stock bootloader which in fact is the "one" who's burning them.
So if you have AutoRCM you're always safe.

@rajkosto

can i select to not install autorcm when using this ?
so i just have to make sure, everytime i shut my switch deep down and turn it up again (every time) i have to start it in rcm mode myself and then launch for example rei or raj and no fuses will be burnt ? as long as i never let the nintendo os boot i should be safe right ? i will use an original xececuter jig (i only will get the jig, no sx pro or os). this should be reliable enough for booting into rcm or not ?

or is there another 100% solution when installing autorcm that i can shut my switch deep down so it will not drain battery accidently ?

No. I guarantee you will burn fuses without AutoRCM.
You can shut your switch down fully by holding the power button for 12 secs...

  • boot into hekate -> remove USB from console -> choose "power off"
  • boot into SX Pro boot menu (by holding VOL+) -> remove USB from console -> choose "power off"
  • hold power for 12 seconds
Pick whatever you like. I keep it in standby all the time and if I don't I turn it off from hekate.

thanks for your answer. so i have two solutions, because i don´t have an sx pro.
so with hekate or holding power 12 seconds is working 100% for sure ? i guess i can not chek somehow if switch is really turned off completely ?
what can happen in worst case if battery gets drained fully ? is it recoverable as long as i have my nand and boot backups ?

If battery is drained fully (and i mean super fully, below 0% in horizon) you just need to charge for 30 mins with nintendo charger.

thanks, i didn´t knew that :) so in fact nothing bad can happen at all if i forget to charge my switch for longer time AND i didn´t properly shut it down ?
and when shutting down properly i should not run into a fully discharged switch right ?

Sure. If you didn't burn fuses.
No, I was asking if you burned fuses, because autoRCM skips the fuse check, right? So theoretically, wouldn't it be possible to downgrade with this and then use autorcm to boot into it (because it skipped the fuse check)?
