OK, thanks for lettming me know. I do think there should be another term for coldboot without any other devices as thats the goal (imo).
Well, SX Pro either needs a jig or AutoRCM. It still uses the same exploit. It just substitutes the need for a USB cable making it semi-tethered meaning you need the dongle but not a whole computer.

I understand, what I'm saying it would be nice to just hit the power button and be in CFW without RCM, a jig, or a dongle. Let's call this Coldboot+:ha:

It would be untethered coldboot. The current one is tethered (or semi-tethered with external/internal modchips). Although the distinction is unofficial, it sends the point across.

Ah, let's call it Coldboot- ... as in Coldboot minus the dongle xD

Edit Or Coldboot-- ... as in Coldboot with the dongle count decremented

Question: If I have SX OS v1.4 and I want to get DevMenu installed can I not just install Pokemon Quest.nsp game from the install menu and the put DevMenu on the SDCard. I need a way to delete older titles that I have installed and can't through SX OS v1.4.

I believe you have to use DevMenu to install DevMenu meaning you will have to setup DevMenu through LayeredFS then install the DevMenu.nsp so install Pokemon Quest and set up the folders with the LayeredFS DevMenu and it should work.

Just a few questions guys:

  1. I have the DevMenu.nsp, is there any reason to use this over SX OS 1.4 built-in backup installer? Is DevMenu easier to batch install backups/saves/DLC? Any other added benefits?

  2. If I'm not mistaken, DevMenu has a built in Save Data manager. Does it eliminate the need for Checkpoint?

  3. SX OS 1.4 comes with a new Homebrew tab that shows all the Homebrew apps installed. Does this replace the need for hbmenu.nro? It seems a little redundant to have effectively two homebrew app menus now.

  4. What is the character limit for NSP files?

  5. Finally, is there a list of files that we should not delete from the SD card? I'm on SX OS 1.4 and have also used Hekate - CTCaer mod v3.2 so now I have a bunch of files and folders in the root of the SD card - it would be nice to tidy them up.
Thanks guys. Hopefully some of you might have the same questions as I do.

This video shows you don't have to do the above with SX OS v1.3 and above, but since I do not go online I need to know if I need to buy Pokemon from the eShop to get this to work or not? I have a version of the game in nsp format but it won't install with the SX OS v1.4.

Total Noob here.

Just got my Switch 4.1.0 today, followed the instructions to manually set the DNS to 104.236.106.125, 62.210.147.20. So far so good.

But now, if I try to connect to the internet, It it will say

"Registration is required to use this network"

and if I continue, it will give me a blank page for a second and then say

"A system update is required before you can proceed"

So if I hit cancel, it just goes back to the previous page, with internet checked.

No adverse effects as far as I can tell. But if I restart I will need to go through the above steps manually again to connect to the internet.

Is this normal or did I f*** it up already?

  1. Well DevMenu can do things outside of installing .NSPs so it can be useful for those purposes
  2. Well running Checkpoint is less likely to get you banned so I wouldn't say so
  3. Personally, I prefer hbmenu.nro but its up to you which one you want to use
  4. 64
  5. Since you can load homebrew without hbmenu.nro, you can just delete that for starters

Make sure the .nsp name is 64 characters long or less and only uses alphanumeric characters. Also, ensure you have enough space on your SD card (you need double the size of the .nsp)

You can't really use the Internet on 4.1. Those DNS settings just block updates from being installed.

Is there coldboot from 3.0.2 still far?
As when Atmosphere was being announced it was said that it will be the first FW which gets it.

Coldboot doesn't look like to be anytime soon, also FW 1.0.0 will be the first to get it and, as far as I'm currently aware, only up to 3.0.1 will get coldboot.

(Maybe already asked but I didn't found anything)

is it better to use a .xci or install the nps of the same game? What's the difference except that the nps installs on the console (and therefore modifies it to a lesser extent)?
Also, when a nps is installed, can you run it in ofw (so without starting SX OS) ?

Hi, i tried to launch hekate using 2 different PC. Target: Nand backup.

Tegrarcm sees my switch in rcm. I inject payload. then - Nothing happens at switch. Tegrarcm seems to stop working - if i click somewhere in the window, it goes to no response mode.
Whats wrong here?
