Hacking Question SX OS doesn't power off my console.

I have 5.1, and 1.3sxos.

Again, I powered down my switch from horizon power menu, and it will not boot into sxos using the sx pro dongle until I press the power button.

After powered down, I insert the sx pro dongle, and a blue light breifly lights up, but if I remove and replace the dongle, the light no longer turns on.

A firm tap on the power button, and inserting the sx pro dongle, blue and then green light on the dongle, and sxos boot logo comes on screen.

Another person who does not understand how AutoRCM works.
This is normal because when you have autoRCM on, the switch will boot to RCM about 12 seconds after you power it off from the Horizon.

If this is how it is supposed to work it's not documented in the SX OS manual nor is it stated in the warning on the SX OS boot menu. Of course users would expect that the system would stay powered down when you select "turn off" from horizon. You being a dick to the OP was unwarranted.

I have had the same results the last few times I powered down. Yet I have had the system power itself on to RCM after a shutdown. I didn't tap the power button or connect the Switch to power. I have no idea what's going on but I don't power down from Horizon anymore because I've come back to a completely dead system twice.

Wait, but you're pressing the power button in your video.

Your trinket is getting power? That's what the lights are showing?

Your video seems to show your switch working in the same way mine does, the dongle waits for power button before RCM payload is sent, correct?

So is it in a 4th mode? Not powered off, but not on, and not in rcm?

Or is it that it's RCM but the payload can't be sent until the power button is pressed?

I'm just trying to find out what's happening.

But it also shows, that it wakes up 12 seconds after powering the switch off.
Rajkosto is giving you a challenge. Connect switch to PC. Turn it off. Wait 20 sec. Push payload (from PC) without pressing anything on the switch.

Tried 2 times.

Inserted usb c to pc, powered down from horizon. Usb disconnect notification sound from pc at about 3 sec after power off pressed. at 17 seconds, usb reconnect sound from pc. tegrarcmsmash-gui says RCM detected. Push payload. tegrasmash says Payload sent!, switch in black screen. Hit power button, tegrarcmsmash says rcm detected, send payload, sxos boots on switch.

Exactly the same thing happened the second time. So it is a 4th mode.

And to your questions:
Trinket is getting power from the battery. Whenever pin 4 is pulled high

trinket wakes up and tries to send the payload.
Trinket is also pulling down the "home button" (pin 10 on joy-con). So I hold power+vol up to boot to recovery. Then he sends the payload. I don't have AutoRCM neither BriccMii.
Mine switch is fully powered off at that point.

But that is intended behaviour!!!

Its nice and simple really...

The switch will power up (normal boot, or if you are autoRCM, it will go straight to RCM) the moment any powered cable (be it PC, power bank). WITHOUT THE NEED TO PRESS THE POWER BUTTON.

If the switch is docked or plugged into the PC when you select power off, it will reboot to RCM. Turn it off, then dock it? RCM.

See where we are going here?

Tell you what... Little tool to build...

Get a usb-c and solder an LED to the D+ and GND lines. When in RCM, it will stay lit. When off, it is off.

For the sake of regularity, this is with SXOS.

Ask someone who has installed a trinket. This is the exact behaviour...

I`ll make a thread on how to build a RCM test dongle if you want one.

Whats so bloody hard about it?

But if tegrasmah detects it, it is in RCM, so it is working as intended. You just have more steps to make loading payloads possible. Weird. Nonetheless, your switch boots to RCM as it should with AutoRCM

But it doesn't work the same. If tegrasmash detects rcm, and when you go to send the payload it doesn't work, that's not working.

So if a payload can't be sent, it can't be in rcm? Right?

See where we are going? Install AutoRCM, power the switch down from horizon and measure your amazing VCC pin.
And I have installed trinket...

And if it is so simple, why won't the Switch power itself back on when it is constantly connected to PC? (Power it on, connect it to PC, power it off, stays off)

Because in RCM, it is looking for a payload. (It is actually looking for Tegra repair tools if we are being pedantic).

If you have a trinket installed, the trinket cannot communicate with the switch due to the PC already establishing a connection with the switch.

The signal levels are different for a start. If the PC has established a connection, ie registered the switch as an APX device, it CANNOT COMMNICATE WITH ANYTHING ELSE until that communication is terminated.

Easiest thing you can try. Charge you switch to 100%. Power it off and come to it after like 2 hours and tell us you battery %.

ok then. I have a second switch (no trinket, no autorcm/briccmii).
I have connected it to PC. Powered it off. Why is it not automatically powering on now when it is connected to PC?

If the trinket is constantly powered, and pin 4 to cap on pin 5 of M92T36, it will probably never power off completely.
