I'm really pissed the entire game isn't on the cartridge... it left me thinking I took a wrong path somewhere, only to find out that I'm barely over half-way through the game, and it wants me to download the second half as an "update"? This kind of fuckery on the Switch needs to stop .
I think it's gonna get more common. They don't seem to want to go bigger than 128Gbit carts which just isn't enough these days.

DOOM has a 10GB download before you can even play it. That takes up a shitload of space on my SD. Hell, I should have just bought it digitally if I knew my SD space would be***** like that.

you get flagged because the logs disappear, however if the logs were never sent (being completely offline) then it would appear as a brand new switch once u did go online. thats why i said theoretically.
I think it was SciresM that said this, but there is continuity data logged on top of the 'logs,' and this sort of thing persists even through a Factory Reset.

Really? I could play it without a DL, didn't bother getting far at all though so not sure how much it had, but I could definitely play.

You can't even play Smash 4 on 3DS without a mandatory "Update" a.k.a. the rest of the game. It's a complete bullshit practice. I wanted to play Smash in the car on my way home, and couldn't.

I think Nintendo cheaped out on cards probably a bulk deal on 16gb as I've not seen anything released in a larger size yet...

I did start making a list of what games need patches to finish but I didn't get too far...

It really is, Nintendo should really start enforcing a minimum standard for physical releases. We know they enforce practically everything else, but for some reason having the whole game available on the cart isn't one of those things... ridiculous.

It's either 1 of 2 things
Nintendo control the gamecard distribution and only provide a maximum size of 16gb

Publishers are only buying the cheapest cards.

That's the only thing I can think of really, it's definitely a cost saving measure no matter which way it's handled

With CDNSP/Devmenu and SXOS 1.3, you've essentially got freeshop on your PC (base game, updates and DLC) all available without needing to go to eshop on your switch itself.
I think the odd title may not work but from what I've read 99.9% do.
It easy to use from command line, but I'm sure it won't be long before someone knocks up a GUI that'll work against a maintained titleid/titlekey database.

Dragon Quest Heroes I & II is a 256Gbit cart I believe, but released in Japan only and rather expensive. It annoys me a lot that carts are not full games but as far as cost goes, you get more for your money with mSD over proprietary game carts.

Right I wasn't aware of that but it would make sense the bigger the cart the more expensive the game...
But when you consider mSD cards are approx about $40 for 128gb there should be full games on these carts

Indeed, the script, banned cert and sxos1.3 have spedup that.
I'm waiting on game updates to be figured out a little better.

Tho I do believe hollow knight got released fully updated

Game updates are easy.
Just change the last 3 digits of the title id from 000 to 800 and use the script -i option to find the latest update version number and put that instead of the 0 instead of -0- in the string.

Wha's also cool is that nsps
a) are minimal size so no need for xci trimming
b) do not have to be mounted through album
c) can be updated offline (via the above on pc then devmenu)
d) can be batch installed via devmenu
Man, what a time to be alive.

Not yet :( but with all the nsp stuff going on it's only a matter of time, I hope this happens.

Apparently Wolfenstein patching does not work... There are other dlc that half does and doesn't

It's just a waiting game while things get figured out at the moment. I hope update patching happens though.
Who's told you that rubbish I have patched my card 2's with a personal wolfenstein 2 certificate and tested over 4 days now no ban I have used the zelda certificate on my card 1 games no ban! If your talking about the guy who reported a ban on using wolfenstein 2 cert, he injected a card 2 certificate into mario kart 8 and went online which is a card 1 title that was why. know one has reported a ban on using wolfenstein 2 cert on card 2 titles only as yet!

You don't need the update to play Doom. The update is so big because it contains the entire multiplayer part of the game... which you need online to access in the first place. Singleplayer is completely functional without any updates as far as I'm aware.

So you've installed the 8gb patch onto the scene release? Because on a discord I was in last night people were saying it doesn't work, also I'm not talking about going online with games here at all, the title of the thread is 100% offline so go figure

Yes I have downloaded the full extra 9GB, sorry 7GB's to be precise patch to the game and it works all ok. I can give you proof if you like?

Then it must of been figured out after I left, if my info is wrong fair enough, let's be honest here things are moving so fast it's hard to keep up with it all.

That being said I'll have a look for the patch and test it later too, I don't need proof.

EDIT you did say you injected your own certs to update, but can this be done via nsp 100% offline yet?
