It currently says "Current version 3.0" No "System Update available" anywhere on there.

In regards to skipping the prompt, I meant will I always be able to ignore the prompt or will I be forced to update in order to continue at some point in time? I mean I'm probably going to assume I won't have to unless I connect online and I'm probably not going to bother updating unless I get a definite answer, but part of me keeps thinking I"m missing out on something really cool in this update that is possibly only software related.

The Switch is designed to not let you launch games when it detects a System Update but we can delete System Updates. Then, we recently learned there is a Super Update Nag that gets triggered when you connect to the Internet and is flagged every time you try to access anything that requires Internet access. However, there is a homebrew that is designed to get rid of it. The downloaded game update seems harmless if it lets you launch the game without updating the game but its currently impossible to tell which update its downloaded. So I would say no matter what choice you make, we have the tools to reverse whatever Nintendo throws at you.

EDIT: I just realized there is one possible scenario which is dangerous and irreversible. If the game update that is stored on the Switch is not the one on the latest firmware, then you connect online, the Switch can detect there is another game update available for MK8 and not allow you to run the game without retrieving the update. And you cannot retrieve the update without updating your System firmware. Now I have heard some weird methods to remove this update, but there is no official way to remove that type of flag.

I'm going to assume it is the 1.2 (or 1.2.1) software update which would coincide with the 3.0/3.0.1 updates from last summer. I think I recall deleting downloaded update info in recovery mode about that time in order to avoid the update nag. It's probably safe to update Mario Kart, but I guess I'll ignore it for now. At least I'm pretty certain that if I do accidentally update, it won't be the firmware.

Since the SX Pro has been jacked up in price and I most likely will not be able to get one by launch date, I've been looking into getting the SX OS instead.

From my understanding, if I go this route, I will have to have my own jig and use my laptop to push a payload to boot SX OS.

After that, as long as my Nintendo Switch doesn't crash or run out of battery, I shouldn't need to redo the process.

Correct? Thanks.

Is anyone else not able to boot games while running Atmosphére? I've been stuck on the Switch splash screen/animation when trying to boot games in both 5.0.2 and 5.1.0.

I think I can answer. Some emulators work on 5.0.2, like VBA-next and Desmume, but something like beetlepsx (which is in beta anyway) doesn't run. Checkpoint works as does NX-Shell and ftpd. More and more homebrew is being updated for support though, so it probably won't even matter in a month or two. If I were you and I cared about online stuff (like how I have a subscription for Just Dance Unlimited), I would make a full NAND backup and update. 5.1.0 doesn't burn eFuses, and then you can always go back. Just a suggestion. Do take note that none of the Doom or Duke Nukem emulators seem to work, or maybe that's just my case.
if u put the wad file for doom with the nro just in switch folder seemed to work for me and eduke there two files u need .rts and .grp you need the dos rom to get these file and download newest hekate build from the other day fixes sleep mode and u can launch games with it

Homebrew launcher now works on all firmwares. And if you update using Rocket League, you will be updated to 4.0.1.

In terms of firmware, there is a private softmod for loading CFW that works from 3.0.1-4.1. There is no estimated time of release for it as well as no confirmed softmods for 5.x. There is a possibility this private softmod may work on 5.x which may further delay its public release because there is no point in releasing an unpatched exploit. However, since Atmosphere supports all firmware, updating depends on how long you're willing to wait until its release. Atmosphere will have EmuNAND support which will allow you to update to the latest firmware.

Thanks a lot ! I understood eveything :) As Atmosphere is supposed to be released this summer, I'll wait longer before updating and thanks to the emulated NAND, I could have the OFW updated to the latest version and the CFW installed on the same NAND.
That's cool !

Yes, just also be aware that if you are going to be playing backups with a connection to the Internet, you are risking a ban. Unless you don't care about being banned/you will not be connecting your Switch online.

Just use TegraRCMSmash for sending payloads once the Switch is in RCM.

Hey I tried using my HTC M8 to send the payloads to my switch via NXLoader but it doesn’t ask for any permissions meaning my phone isn’t compatible, does this mean my phone will never work or could support be added later?

Will we be able to have dlc's for free with SX Pro when the eShop dumps will be playable or are those 2 things completely apart from eachother?

So if I buy just SX OS, not the SX Pro, would I be able to launch it through the WebFG tool through my chromebook? Thats the fastest way to load payloads for me... And will i have to use that to boot into the SX OS every time I want to use it like the current way to boot into homebrew? Sorry I forget the name of what it's called...

DLC has not been dumped or made publicly available for download. You can theoretically download DLC through Nintendo's Servers via CDN but you risk your Switch getting banned as the CDN requires your console's unique certificate. Even if we did, there is no way for us to install DLC outside of using the eShop. As for eShop titles, they have mentioned it is in the works but it will not be made available at launch.

Yes because the exploit is lost when the console is turned off. You can just leave your console in sleep mode all the time if you don't want to have to resend the payload every time, but there is currently no way to maintain the exploit after the console is shut down.

Does your phone support OTG? If it does, I don't see why it wouldn't work, but it sounds like your phone doesn't support otg
