I was wondering if it is worth using the PermaRCM payload until Atmosphere is released? Or would it be better to wait? Does PermaRCM cause any issues with the Switch? I read through the release thread, and it seems it's a hit or miss. I just want some feedback from people who use it. I love the emulator scene on the switch so I'd like to keep my use of a jig to a minimum to prevent damage. Thanks!

If I were you I would do the joycon hack (have it and pretty handy tbh as a separate device is no go). Corrupting your main os files is bound to be problematic. From what I read in AutoRCM battery does not charge (but it's argued not be true) although I never tested it myself.
I sure hope that down the line a mod can be done to the SD card to auto inject payloads!

Yeah man, I feel the exact same. It would be much more simple to inject a payload locally from the system, but only time will tell. Also, do you use homebrew? Is there any way I can take out the SD card to load some roms on it without losing RCM? Or is the switch going to tell me "cannot eject while system is on" or some bs?? Just to test, I literally only put 1 rom on there lol.

They say the battery won't charge In RCM. This is true. However this won't actually brick like some claim. The battery can still be

Well i've tried to put my console at 50% and putted it in rcm mode and docked it
the day after it was at 100%

I do use homebrew and my faves are for now Snes9x2010 and pFBA where I get the megadrive emu.
Sadly popping out the SD card while the system is on will require a reboot for now (unless we get to change this when Atmos gets launched).
I would advise you to use the 'memloader' payload that basically enables you to access your SD card from the Switch via cable. Look it up! I have been sending stuff from my android phone ever since I discovered it.

Yeah it's been around for quite some time and it's very handy!
I had to copy a backup of 11GB after the hbmenu crashed on me erasing all my Nintendo folder content.
Did it in 40 minutes using an old laptopB-)

I personally use AutoRCM and have for about 2 weeks now without any issue. It charges just fine and I haven't had any issues. It really feels stable. I haven't powered off my device though in that 2 weeks span so I'm not sure about re-entering rcm. I just leave it in this half hen/cfw state. It boots my games just fine, my emulators/hbl, etc. For file transfers I use a (modded) release of FTPd. I have transfered several full game dumps up to 16gb without issue to my PC within 10 minutes, and move roms around all without issue.

Not saying this is the best or even an ideal situation, just how I'm currently configured and my state. Hope that helps.

That's pretty cool! I'll have to grab that payload. One more question, is there any way to access the homebrew app store on 4.1.0 without causing an update nah? Or is it just as effective downloading the app and then putting it on the SD

While in RCM the switch doesn't charge... This is fact. However there is a charging mode it "should" enter when the battery is totally drained. (By should I mean apparently it sometimes fails requiring you to remove and reseat the battery to get it working.) So if left in RCM it can cause troubles. To avoid troubles always ensure the switch is totally turned off or in horizon os

I don't use the DNS blocker and I'm not getting the update nag at all! Maybe because I only connect when I want to download something off the homebrew appstore? I'm also on 4.1.0 btw.
I suggest you download the homebrews from your phone or PC for now and put them on your SD card because the appstore can hang sometimes or miss some files (I tried to download DOOM but ended up with a small file). Besides I like putting the .nro files into a folder to keep things organized compared to others who simply put them in the Switch folder.

Mite as well seeing you will be using a jig regardless even after atmosphere is release. You will still have to get into rcm one your switch reboot due to battery drain or to acces the eshop at some point. So I'll say go ahead CFW will be exactly the same as the current builds just more polished with no real difference added but emunad and most won't really benefit from it as regular users. The truth is very little people will actually see any benefit if any.

You will just avoid having to fiddle with a jig every time. that may be a time saver as there reports of some jigs being unreliable I've had to play around with my jigs to get into rcm far to much for far to little reward atlest at this state in time.

Not exactly sure about it not charging while in "RCM" mode, but then again, realistically, why would you leave it in RCM mode? RCM mode is a middle man to pass into Hekate..just boot into CFW or into the original SFW...I can prove it charges in either one of those, and that's even reflected in https://gbatemp.net/threads/important-psa-autorcm-battery-warning.505192/ which hasn't been updated, since hekate has supported sleep mode for half a week now.

Am I missing something? Or misunderstanding?
