I really hope the switch gets some love soon but i'm a little supprised ppsspp can run on the wii u
Why wouldn't it? It's not that demanding of an emulator, I mean it runs well on Smartphones on all things. In fact, the emulator runs really well as is right now. Just a little buggy, make some optimizations and this will run extremely well.

Monster Hunter Frontier
  • Firmware: 5.5.2
  • SD type and Class: SDXC Class 10 (96mb/s)
  • Homebrew launcher version: Haxchi HBL
  • Non default settings: none
  • Issues observed: 3D objects don't render so there's no image during gameplay, intro video, music, intro screen runs at full speed.

Smartphones use ARM, Wii U uses PPC, PSP uses MIPS, it all depends on the architecture and how the emulator is ported and optimized. PPSSPP isn't nearly as demanding as DeSmuME or DraStic, that's for sure.

Looks like games can load from USB but crash as soon as you enter a Loading screen.
Also the emulator will freeze most times if you have 3 or more games in the same folder.
Given these bugs it's pretty certain that this alpha build suffers from memory allocation issues but hell its pretty great for a first port!

I ran some games last night and these were the best working ones...

All these games I tested in Compressed ISO format (.cso) and they loaded up fine.

it seems EBOOTS are not supported but someone should try converting them to ISO to see if they work!

Firmware: 5.5.1
SD type and Class: SDHC Class 10
Homebrew launcher version: 1.4
Game: Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX
Non default settings: No frameskip
Issues observed: Very slight screen tearing at times but the game plays and runs perfectly with no crashes

Firmware: 5.5.1
SD type and Class: SDHC Class 10
Homebrew launcher version: 1.4
Game: Darkstalkers: The Chaos Tower
Non default settings: No frameskip
Issues observed: Very slight screen tearing at times but the game plays and runs perfectly with no crashes

Firmware: 5.5.1
SD type and Class: SDHC Class 10
Homebrew launcher version: 1.4
Game: Parodius Collection (J)
Non default settings: No frameskip
Issues observed: All games run great but crashes if going back to main game menu

Firmware: 5.5.1
SD type and Class: SDHC Class 10
Homebrew launcher version: 1.4
Game: Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins
Non default settings: frameskip 1
Issues observed: slight fog texture graphical issue but played fine up until stage 3 and randomly crashed

Games that run with very sluggish performance (even on fs 2)
- Powerstone Collection
- WipeOut Pure
- WipeOut Pulse

Games that crash during or after 1st loading screen:
- BlazeBlue: Calamity Trigger
- Tekken 6
- Tekken: Dark Resurrection

The Wii U's CPU is at least 10x more powerful than model 2000/3000 PSPs. :P

More than likely, as I could see the game's thumbnail and got that message.

Still, someone should try converting them to ISO if possible. Maybe we can also get a PSX emulator (popstation) running through this.

I have the PPSSPP.rpx file in the wiiu/apps folder and the PPSSPP folder in the root of the sd. But I do not see PPSSPP.rpx in homebrew launcher.

Game: Ace Combat: Joint Assault
Non default settings: Frameskip set to 1, controls set to match Playstation layout

even on wii u homebrew, here comes dat switch

I'll give a couple of games I have a go. Really excellent work.

If loading Switch homebrew wasn't such a PITA, I'd definitely be on board, but given I'm on 4.x.x and the only method is those bloody jigs, I'll pass and test this port instead.
