Damn shame I never really paid attention to the PS4 hacking scene until recently. Especially considering I bought my PS3 just before the 3.55 jailbreak, and am still updating to the latest Rebug firmware whenever it comes out. Sadly on 5.53 with my PS4 atm. Not even sure if it's worth trying to stay on a lower version at this point.

I'm new to PS4 homebrew, if I buy a PS4 in store right now will I be set? AFAIK all PS4's on shelves are on lower than 5.05, so if I get one on say, 4.73 can I upgrade using a PUP to 5.05?

I'm guessing it needs signing somehow. I've done countless ps3s but not kept up to date with PS4 stuff until now!

I saw friend download and install without any signing. Either i blacked out or no signing needed if used the right pkg file.

You need to download the 5.05 firmware to update your PS4 with a USB stick.

Yes, i was on 455 and updated to 505 and all games installed when in 455 work on my 505

Yes, you can download whatever version, as long as its higher then the current firmware version.
