I figured out the reason why my SD card wasn't being read, I simply had to flip the switch on the side of the micoSD adapter from write-protected mode to unlock it. After doing this I was able to copy the contents of my 32gb to my 64 and the files showed up and loaded perfectly. Go figure.
As far as getting the original DS games to load via my flash cart, I was unable to make it work. I tried different firmwares, I tried updating Luma as I read in another thread that older versions of Luma are incompatible with regular Nintendo DS mode. Nothing seemed to remedy the issue, which is fine, I am content with just playing my 3DS games off my SD card. That's the reason I got the flash cart and playing older DS games isn't a huge priority to me.
However, something happened today that is very puzzling to me. I was playing my games, installed via .cia files onto my SD card, and everything was working properly and has been for the past few days. I have been switching between Animal Crossing New Leaf and Sonic Generations with no issues, everything working as it should.
However, this evening as I was playing Sonic Generations, I beat the level I was playing and turned off my 2DS. I let it sit in my pocket for a little while, maybe thirty minutes or so, and when I went to turn the 2DS on again to continue playing I was greeted with a black screen when I power the system on. I have repeatedly turned the system on and off again , with and without an SD card or cartridge insterted, hoping to get the home menu to load up and have had no success.
This really concerns me, as the system was working fine and I did nothing to alter the contents of the SD card between playing Sonic last time, and rebooting the system. It just randomly stopped working all of a sudden. How could this have happened? Is it common for the 2ds/3ds to just randomly brick itself after the CFW has been installed? I would think I would have had to install a corrupt file or accidentally delete or uninstall an important system file in order for this to happen, but that was not the case. My 2DS has just randomly stopped working out of the blue. Very lame..
So I started browsing the forums trying to find a fix. I followed pretty much every solution found in this guide :
https://gbatemp.net/threads/you-dont-need-to-remove-b9s-the-guide-to-proper-troubleshooting.477024/ regarding booting to a black screen and nothing seemed to work. I updated boot9strap, updated Luma, cleared the Home Menu extdata, and even booted my 2ds into recovery mode and updated the system. Nothing worked.
The good news is, I can boot into recovery mode, even though performing a system update appears to do nothing at all. I can also boot GodMode and Luma by using the start+power input and the select+power input respectively, however everything I tried to do using these boot menus while following the troubleshooting guide has failed to work. So I don't know whether or not my 2DS is totally bricked or not, or if it may still be fixed but I am definitely discouraged about this whole 2DS modding process after experiencing this.
Perhaps someone here has experienced a similar issue and there's a simple fix I'm just not aware of? I certainly hope so because at the moment this R4 gold plus has rendered my 2DS completely useless.
