I'm Back, to work on mega thread and post a thread voicing my (possibly pointless) worries
Seen Team modchip?
You see two things, a custom Rcm jig, nothing new, And then you see a black dongle thing plugged into the device Via Usb-C
Rcm Jig: it's just a 3d printed, or injection molded piece of plastic, with a piece of metal inside, to short two nintendo switch pins. Nothing new, nothing much to talk about.
Black Dongle on the usb-C port: Now this is "new", Black piece with usb c to stick into switch, with a usb c port on the bottom, possibly for adding games, or use as like a usb interface for the switch(like dock, or usb peripherals ). This black piece, is also most likely just an rcm payloader because you see them take it out when the switch reboots.
The Bd, is most likely a Teensy, or a usb appliant micro controller, that sends the payload.
Coincidently, there's this https://gbatemp.net/threads/running-fusee-gelee-through-a-teensy-3-6.502583/
which shows how to boot into Fusee
0.05 to 0.16 they put the black dongle(gonna call it the Bd for now), and the Rcm jig onto the switch and boot it up.
around .16 to .30 they into a menu and launch a "custom firmware"
This being done would be pretty "simple" Just boot into a custom built version of linux, telling the thing to reboot into the Nintendo switch Home menu.
And after they boot into the home menu they just show changing into games, and booting into them(but not playing any).
This throws off a couple of red flags for me, anyone can show boot videos of games.
People have made nintendo looking Ui's before https://gbatemp.net/threads/snes-classic-frontend-clone-on-the-switch.503737/
and The button combo that they use for changing games could be explained by this, a custom launcher, that's a 1:1 with nintendo's.
I think this is most of my concerns of the "modchip."
my hope is, that you won't Pre order this device until more info of it working is shown.
and please, if you think i'm just stupid, point out the flaw(s) in my argument, to enlighten me.
Tl;Dr: Mod chip is most likely a teensy like device launching into Fusee, then launching into a Ns looking Ui, fooling about everyone. so don't pre order, until alot more info is shown, or my arguments are shown as false.

another thing they could have done, is boot into a Streaming application, or a video player, and they just hit the right buttons at the right time, almost like that Paper mario Ttyd "leak"
people have faked the home menu before http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20..._switch_firmware_5_0_leak_is_amazing_but_fake
