You know what I hate most with these "scene" devs?
They tease people and then make them wait for a year.

When Xecuter came, they brought a wind of disturbance (in the force? [emoji23]) and that served as a catalyst for the whole scene.
Because now there was an "enemy" they had to "beat".

exactly my point ita good 2 teams are trying to prove they are better, it will ignite the scene, xecuter doing it for the money, honesty i dont care, but they ignite the scene

Perhaps for some.

Me? I am content to wait, and let the early birds get worms.

The only cost to waiting for a more mature offer, is that I miss out on early perks. I dont have such hangups. I was content to wait for atmosphere, even on a "whenever" schedule. I am still content to wait. I will not be buying a TX kit. I will wait for Ninty to exhaust their hand first.

To me, TX entering the shooter's gallery just makes Ninty have to empty their magazine faster.

Well, I'll use Atmosphere when it'll be out but if Xecuter launches before that I'll, with no doubt, buy at least one of their OTG solution too

Why?
- Convenience
- Hardware solution
- Time spent "launching" the hack

And it'll probably be less than 60€ which is the current price for a game.

lmao remember when homebrew was free

If you dont mind piracy, it still can be. Like I pointed out way back in the thread, for those with the inclination, TX's offer can be obtained for free. OTG dongle and all. You just have to be willing to work a little for the payoff, just like any other kind of piracy.

I would not have any issues with people doing that using the tutorials I intend to write. It is not the purpose I would write the tutorials for, but I wouldn't pitch a bitch. The tutorials would be to make atmosphere operate with the same convenience. Putting the paid offering at the same price point is perfectly OK by me. ;P

Which is delivering the 'payload' and which is 'triggering' it?

Is this a semantical question?

*Puts on the poindexter glasses and pocket protector*

Putting the Switch into RCM mode causes it to identify itself differently as a gadget device (with a vendor ID and everything), which if detected by the injection program, triggers the injector to send the payload. Once the payload is delivered to the Tegra SoC, it triggers the SoC to run it, completing the process.

Whatever you use to monitor for the change to RCM mode, is what delivers the payload. What initiates the process, is detection of RCM mode.

In the case of the TX kit, the injection program and the payload live in the USB fob. The little white jig that gets slipped into the joycon rail puts the device in an unstable state that enables the RCM mode if you push the magic buttons.

since I last visited this thread, there have been 50 more pages posted, compromising of 90% junk.

let's just wait peacefully and patiently for our rom loader. :)

It's basically like every thread on here, god damn hard to get any info out of those threads if you don't check them out every 2-3 posts

I guess this doesn’t grant us emunand so people on a low firmware won’t have many roms to use?

Unless they wish to update their firmware I should add.

I suspect that TX is of the opinion that "If you upgrade to latest, it wont matter, you can still boot CFW. We got you covered."

Low firmware is only important if you want to use a software based entry method. This is not such a thing, and so, it does not matter.

No, an experienced person can build the opensource code themselves that they have checked that no naughty bits are in. I'm not saying everyone can do it, but it's hell of a lot easier for an coder etc. to review it and say Yay or Nay!
I'm not saying TX will brick consoles, I hardly doubt it. It's TX after all.

Well the thing with open source is double edged though. You might be able to go line by line to make sure nothing bricks your console but guess what, so can Nintendo. So, if you trust some company (i do trust some) then there is no reason for them to sabotage their *own* products. However, Nintendo will be able to more easily access the code and see how it works immediately after release (if they are not doing it already). Which means the open source solution is even easier to block/detect.

I am not saying either of them are more secure, all i am saying is that at least, with a closed source project, they will have to decompile it and jump a few hoops before actually finding out how it works, even if it takes them a day more or a few hours or a month. With open source it is right there in your browsers. You are a click away finding some project's vulnerability right in your browser.

So that point does not stand. What does stand is your trust level with X provider which is a personal and completely based off your experiences with said provider. I trust TX more than any other team personally due to the great products they got out in the past so i will give them my support.

Maybe this was answered somewhere -- I skipped a number of pages assuming it was just pointless bickering -- but it seems like it'd be pretty easy to lose that jig, which looks like it's not much bigger than a nano-SIM card. Anyone know if there's a slot of some kind to store it on the dongle? Sort of like the slot for the stylus on the 3DS.
