just for fun as I'm playing about with 3d design and thought I would give the xecuter modchip a redesign for fun, personally I hope what was shown wasn't the final design (I'm guessing not as TX usually make half decent looking stuff)

anyway here was my mock design of what I think would look good

Is that an RCM jig on the side there as well?

Making profit from public exploit and piracy, and having a reputation of intentionally bricking 3ds...

Screw you TX and your mtfking piece of junk
Tx didn't even make anything for the 3ds
Stop the nonsense

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about

get the files ready we going to use them soon and DIY and 3d print shells

whats funny is i have a 1.0.0 and i dont have puyo to install fake news, ill prob get one to get puyo install fake news and then sell it :D

yeah, I figured all in 1 device, slide the jig in, enter RCM, then slide it in the bottom to launch the payload

A jig on a retracting string (think those retracting keyring doodads) would be just as boss. Plug it in, slide down the jig, power on. Bob's your uncle. Unplug, detach jig, and is jumps right back into its hidey hole.)

I wonder if they will release an after market housing for the right joycon with the side peice built in. I mean I mostly use my switch in handheld mode

The obvious "best fit", is a thin "Full length" shim that slides down the right joycon rail with a proper ZIF contact pad at the bottom, and a sexy professional switch on it, with another rail on the other side for the joycon to slide down onto. It would extend the length of your assembled switch by maybe a centimeter, but would provide all the needed function cleanly.

"We just need a CFW"
- We've already got that.

"The homebrew spirit is gonna die"
- What is that based on? Isn't the 3DS scene enough of a proof that this will actually help the Switch scene?

"Piracy is wrong and if you're here for piracy you shouldn't"
- Let me tell you something. Your opinion is yours, mine is mine. So either you respect mine and I shall respect yours or don't even start talking about it.
I know I talk about most people here when I say that piracy is WANTED but also EXPECTED.
Stop whining, if all you want is homebrews, what the hell are you waiting for or talking about ?
Go ahead and code some, or better : if you don't have the skills share your ideas with some devs.

We already have a CFW, Homebrew Menu and all the necessary tools. Just because it's not an All-In-One package + tutorial doesn't mean we have jack-sh*t.

People here are talking about the "Homebrew spirit" but do not even seem to f*cking check Github and tryna understand the code's progress. Smfh.
F* that, I'm pretty sure over 90% of these "defenders of homebrew and justice" don't even code, neither on a regular basis nor in a professional way.

Every single time I come in here on an interesting topic there's 60% of whining, 30% of bullshit not even closely related to the topic and only 10% of good infos.

Reddit isn't up to date enough so I have to come here and it's just disgusting to read over 100 shitty posts between two useful ones.

No console in history has ever "died" due to piracy, the level of know-how required and the hassle involved deters the majority of customers. In fact, piracy is in single-digit territory in terms of the customer base, and this includes consoles that could be modded with nothing more than an SD card like the Wii.

As for the chip device, good. People come for the piracy and stay for the homebrew at an astonishing rate, I personally only learned C because I bought a flashcart for my DS and everything was plug and play - if not for Team Acekard I wouldn't learn how to code until my university days. Knowing C gave me a huge advantage over other students, I even nailed the professor to the wall once when he suggested using a stupid loop.

You're right on the money. Sure, piracy is a problem. Sure, we don't all agree with it, purely from a morality and principle stance.
However, and I'm speaking as someone who's had their games pirated. It's not going to go away. It's never likely to be stopped. And Shhhhhh... It's not as big a problem as they make it out to be.

The reality is that the people who pirate the games are the ones who were never likely to pay money for it in the first place.
You're not losing sales, because they wouldn't have paid anyway. Worst case, you're just gaining a larger player base, for me, I don't actually mind that.
If people enjoy it enough to pirate it and continue playing it, then I'm happy. It means I've done something right. And at the end of the day, paying, legitimate customers almost always vastly outnumber the pirates.

For people who actually want to buy this "modchip", remember:
You are purchasing a device which is used to gain unauthorised access into a console. Do you really want this to be closed source?

No, but that doesn't influence my decision to buy it, if I do.

Back in my day everything is closed source and everyone still use it

honestly when was the last time a opensource game was as good or better than a commercially made game, money motivates way more than the "feels", why has TX got their CFW done and booting backups so fast?.....money

what doesn't lead to money very often?....making free software for people, I seem to remember a dev who made a 3DS CFW saying that in several months of development he had only received $5 in donations

Sure eventually a crowd made software/CFW will usually eventually surpass that of paid alternatives, but that's often just that they usurped the position of the market by being free....and once the money has gone to those making paid solutions, so does the development

not shitting on fre devs its very admirable work, but let be honest would you feel as motivated in your job if you were paid $5 every three months

there is still a few features gateway has that have no real alternatives, and many of the 3DS scene developments were derived from gateways work....sure gateway sometimes took something back in return, but ultimately it was a win win situation
