Its not the same you simply need to update to connect into Nintendo servers. If you don't update you don't have internet and also not able to download game update regardless of the version you on, doesn't matter if you buy a game that needs a update or a download you need to be on the last firmware
Ahhhhh. I understand. Thanks for clearing that up. Oh well, I'll resell LA Noire and get Odyssey to hold me off, no worries! Thanks for the help everybody :)

You need to move sonic forces to the 2.3.0 section. Well, at least the 000 version comes with 2.3.0 update on the card.

Are there any games that can be played on a 1.0.0 system? I can wait until summer but it would be nice if I could use it for some early games too.

Is there a list of them around? Cause the Firmware 2.3.0 and lower list here doesnt specifcally say which ones are for 1.0.0.

That is right. The list started when 2.3.0 was already in the air... so I have no way of knowing how.

Can BOTW version 000 be played on 1.0.0 if I find it?

That is also correct.

I just bought a new copy of The Binding of Issac Afterbirth + the serial on the back of the cartridge ends with 000 and it is asking for an update. My switch is on firmware 4.1.0 and has not been connected to the internet in like two months so i dont know how it knows there is an update none of my other games ask for an update it still lets me start the game so all is not lost. I dont know if there is an actual update on the cart or what has anyone had an issue like this my switch has no idea that 5.0.0+ exists. EDIT: I just tried to install the update because i have another switch and it asks me to connect to the internet so i guess there is no update on the cart but i still dont know how my switch knows there is a game update?

I just bought Max:The Curse of Brotherhood it had a physical release today so i put it into my 4.1.0 switch and it does not ask me for an update so im guessing it has update 4.1.0 on the cart but there is no way to be sure. The serial on the back of the cart ends with 000. I just wish there was a better way to check what carts have what update?

:switch: Switch minimal required firmware version list for games (cartridge and E-shop) :switch:
So the idea is actually very simple: in this list we will put the games and their minimal installed version of a certain firmware that is needed to play the game that has NO update installed.
This way you are not wasting money on buying a game that you can't play. (I had 3.0.0 and bought Pankapu and it needed to update to 3.0.2 :glare: as example)
This list is for cartridge and E-shop games! Another reason for this list is to see what games you are missing out on when staying on a lower firmware.
Please add
  • 1-2 Switch (I Think it is rev 001)
I have no idea what the Cardridge REV is, so here:

Bringt Update to 4.0.1 with the game.

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
