I'm having trouble using ocarina cheat on Super Metroid VC, other games seem to be working but not super metroid.
I didn't test so I can't tell if that game is working or not.
Seeing you have other VC working, I suppose you already changed the "channel boot" mode ?

setting > loader settings > channel mode : normal <-> boot.dol ?
it usually is enough to fix Ocarina cheats.

also, do not enable emuNAND, as it seems activating emuNAND translates the memory addresses into mem2 instead of mem1, and you'll need to fix the cheat code itself.
Do you play the channel from NAND or emuNAND? did you try NAND ? (just to confirm if cheats are working fine on NAND but not with emuNAND)

so to confirm i just do the following

extract d2x for your console to Sd card/apps/d2x installer/ folder.
launch it
select with d-pad:
d2x v8 final, slot249, base57, version 21008
press A, then exit with home.
Done !

and then the same for 250 ?

Yep. 249[56] and 250[57]
You can do 251[58], too, but not many games need it.

Your Wii needs to be connected to the internet.

can it not read my wii games from my sd or do they all need to be taken out of wbfs format and put on hdd/usb ??

also usb loader is working now but when i select show wii games it messes up and gets laggy as well as shows nothing. it shows channels fine though with no sissues..

also in list mode it displays cover but the list in the text scroll window is blank yet i can press up and down and the covers change games

your cIOS setup is good now.

Did you try to reset the loader's settings?
maybe it's just a bug with partition type (in case it kept info about old format).

or maybe something broke because of cIOS rev20 (which is known to create wiimote unsync, lag and free issues)

Also, you didn't mention your loader's version.
settings > credit > look at the top.

ok, version is good too :)

It's strange the game list feels unstable.
do you have a lot of games to display? (more than 1000)
do you have emuNAND enabled ? (it takes some time to get a list of all games installed on emuNAND if there are a lot)

I don't see why you have that problem, I just guess you use FAT32, with few Wii games in the /wbfs/ folder (and sub folders, because you correctly used WiiBackupManager to install them)

Edit :
No, scratch that, you don't have priiloader installed.
Ahhh, empty name might be because you launch the loader from Priiloader, and you have channels mode enabled.
Priiloader doesn't grant the necessary rights to USBLoaderGX to get access to NAND channel's names, and ends up with no names in the interface.
If you launch the loader from HBC or from the forwarder channel, it might fix your issue.

though, using cIOS 250 in the settings should fix that issue.
verify your setting (if you don't want to reset them all, though I recommend it) :
Settings > loader settings > loader's IOS : 249 or 250
if it says 58, then try changing it.

I am testing with only 2 wii games in folder.

game and loader set to 250

and yes this is correct -- >>> I just guess you use FAT32, with few Wii games in the /wbfs/ folder (and sub folders, because you correctly used WiiBackupManager to install them)

I really don't see what could be the problem.
The two games without names are the wii games you have in the wbfs folders? they are not games from the console's memory?

you tried to reset/delete all the settings/delete all the usbloader_gx/ folder and start from a clean install?

I followed the link to your latest version via your signature, downloaded that zip which only had 3 files in it and then i took those 3 files and overwrote those in my app folder..

the only thing showing in the loader is my channels and wads.. i select show wii games and thats when it lags and does nothing.. these are wii games in my wfsb folder not games from console memory

the loader is not even reading the game's ISO (except maybe to extract the animated banners if you use banner layout).
in list layout, it just read the folder's name or filename to get the game's TitleID and game's title to display in the loader.

if you don't use a subfolder (you should !!!) then it tries to extract the game's title from the ISO (.wbfs file) header.
So, maybe you don't have subfolders with game's title, and maybe the files are write protected? (I don't know why, write protected .wbfs files are creating problems).
maybe the .wbfs is corrupted, or it's a bad dump and the loader can't read the internal title when opening the ISO.
you should definitely use subfolders, which WiiBackupManager should have done.

/wbfs/Game's title [TitleID6]/TitleID6.wbfs
----------------^
it uses this info to display as title in the loader.
unless you download wiitdb database, and enable its use in the features menu.

be sure you use WiiBackupManager properly :

Ahhh, I might know what your problem is :

don't use Flash drives, USB keys, USB stick, etc.
they are NOT compatible, and only lag and freeze on Wii and WiiU.
yea I'd thought I'd try it first.. guess i need to pickup a small hdd.. any recommendations I saw the testing list of hdd but don't see many smaller than 120 .. i don't plan on putting a ton of games on it just stuff for our disc backups as my kids destroy the cds. can you recommend one on amazon ?

new issue when i changed all my usb to fat32 and then open wbfs manager it crashes the second i select the usb now

I have a small USB2.0 250GB seagate FreeAgent Go, but I don't know if they are still manufactured.
If you want a small drive, you can go with an old 2.0 HDD, old and 2.0 have better compatibility than new/USB3.0 drives.
anything from 320GB and below shouldn't be too exansive.

You mentionned "wbfs manager" maybe you made a mistake and you meant wiibackupmanager?
if you really are using WBFS manager, then you are using an OLD, outdated, and dangerous program which is corrupting data !!!
never use that program again.

1. it works ONLY with WBFS partition format (not FAT32)
2. it corrupts games/data on the drive.

please, use Wii Backup Manager instead.

The program crash when you select the partition letter in the "drive 1" tab ?
Do you already have the wii games installed on that partition or it's just being formatted?

try to create the "wbfs" folder manually, but I don't remember it was required.
Maybe there's a problem in the program settings (something like auto-mounting some partitions letters, or hiding some drives, I don't know)

like you said, this is crazy because it should be very simple.
fat32 > WBM > put games > plug HDD > launch USBGX > play

can the loader not load games just from a wbfs folder on the sd card?

Hello,

@ Fury28:

Yes you can start your games from the SD, but you have to go into the parameters of your loader and tell him to learn about SD.

the SD must be in fat32
