Twitch to offer monthly free games program to Prime subscribers

gfdgfgff.png

Amazon's acquired Twitch streaming service already offers free content to those with a Prime membership, in the form of Prime Loot, but it appears that Twitch is looking to expand on that idea. On March 15th, the "Games with Prime" program will kick off, and subscribers to Amazon Prime will get a monthly assortment of games, much like Xbox's Games with Gold, or PlayStation's PS+. The first month will include six titles; Tales from Candlekeep, Tomb of Annihilation, Mr. Shifty, Shadow Tactics, Oxenfree, and Superhot. These games will be claimable until the end of the month on March 31st, and will switch over to a new set of free games on April 1st, which will be; Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars. If you want to access any of the games, you'll need Twitch's desktop app in order to do so.

Good thing I just subscribed recently. :D Even before this it was more than affordable considering you get to watch free movies, and TV shows on Amazon Prime Video too.

As somebody who subscribes to Prime explicitly for the shipping benefits, the extra gamer loot is just a bonus. Really awesome that I can get free games with it too - and more regularly than what Twitch Prime has already been giving out. Only wish you could redeem it on Steam, but hey, can't argue with the price of free. As long as they don't raise the price of Prime, I'm happy.

They've been giving out free games for several months now? This is news?

This is indeed news, because they're widening the Prime Loot service to offer far more games a month than they have previously, and apparently taking the service more seriously. And it's worth informing people about, because there's so many Prime subscribers that might miss the opportunity to redeem these games. It's not hard to read.

so it's only Windows' games?
call me when they'll offer console's games.

edit:
if you stop subscription to Prime, do you lose game access? (like PS+)

Why are you required to use a launcher? Amazon already sells games that are stored in their media library. Shit like this pisses me off. Stupid companies shoving their annoying useless programs onto customers.

This is pretty cool. The real test is (1) if they actually keep this up for several months on a consistent basis and (2) they don't just recycle games. It's really (1) that irks me the most, even above my previous complaints about being Windows only and tied to their launcher, because they've been very inconsistent on times, offers, etc, and they don't go out of their way to notify you unless you're basically constantly logged in--something I really try to avoid on all websites to minimize the already pervasive tracking.

So, not trying to sound negative. I'm just waiting to see what they actually do.

Do you keep the game after you subscription ends? I'm asking because I just activated my 6 month amazon prime student trial and linked it to my twitch. I don't plan on keeping amazon prime though. Just activated the trial to get my fortnite skins.
