ps4 can't even play botw. and you'd need a pc that cost more then a switch to run cemu.

See, now if they had marketed as like the first Nintendo tablet, that would be a different story. But then people wouldnt have the expectation of it keeping up with the software other consoles have. That's the difference. It's marketed as a console, it has expectations of a console. it's a tablet with a Nintendo logo and people don't understand why the library is what it is.

It's marketed as a handheld in Japan. They just market it as whatever they think will sell better, so I don't care too much about their marketing, I just look at it as what it really is. But I see your point. Maybe it was a bad move to market it as home console first in other regions. But they're not entirely wrong either, since the games are for the most part home console experiences, and that's part of why I like it so much. I never thought I'd see the day when I would be able to play the latest full-fat Zelda and Mario games on the go. Though that's got little to do with the specs of the console and more to do with how the games are designed.
I think it's still early enough in the console's lifespan that they could start marketing it as handheld first if they thought that would work better. But clearly whatever they're doing is working. In the end marketing is just a way to get people to buy the console, and as long as the console is popular, it doesn't really matter if it's underpowered, it'll still get a ton of great exclusives. At least personally, I'm not going to enjoy the console any less because it's less powered than other current consoles if the games are good, and even though it's relatively underpowered it's still capable of producing pretty graphics.

but yeah crash on the switch doesn't look much different from the ps4 version its only highly graphical games that get really downgraded. its also portable so il be getting crash on the switch.

Pokemon will sell like hotcakes. IMO, Pokemon has gone downhill lately starting with Black and White. Gameplay is top notch but the casing is busted. Story and characters are lacking. They fill the game with friend characters that do nothing and come out at random times. The stakes of the bad guys plans are some kind of god tier destruction/domination nonsense. My favorite generation is R/S/E but even that had some sort of climate changing scope of an evil plot. Honestly, another basic Team Rocket type enemy would be refreshing. Keep the story grounded.

While I am happy for people to be able to play games that they have never played, as someone who participates in every gaming generation at least a little I feel the Switch's library to be lacking.

well it would be cool if they could cram the specs of a switch into some with as small as a 3ds the problem with the switch is it can be a bit to big and cause your hands to cramp.

To be fair, full screen previews of 3DS games with 3D models never look great in the trailers, yet when the games are in your hand, they tend to look just fine. I bet the difference to the human eye when you're actually playing the game on the 3DS is far less noticeable than the trailer would lead you to believe, I've seen that effect happen with 3DS games before in the past.

To be fair, the 3DS looks WAY better than anything the N64 could put out. In fact, many games are on the level of some of the best looking games on GC/Wii in terms of graphics quality (disregarding the obvious resolution difference)
And even the worst looking 3DS games look better than anything the N64 could put out, obviously excluding the games that are intentionally made with simple graphics.
3DS has some pretty good looking games, however ports however tend to not push the limits of what the 3DS is capable of.

"new" 3/2ds comes closer. the graphics are obviously better than an n64, but yeah, that resolution reminds me i'm playing an older handheld. XD maybe i just play it closer to my face than most folk. i love citra for letting me play them properly.

Bro, it's horrible. "As a handheld" it may be pretty good, but my car makes for an awesome stereo, but not that great of a car. If it's not good for what it was designed for, then it's not good. It may be getting more attention from other devs, but look how much has to be chopped off to get it to function. Comparing the switch to other consoles is about like comparing consoles to high-end PC's, they're not even in the same class.

Maybe the Nintendo exclusives are the appeal. I'm personally not into the Zelda skinned assassin's creed, the Mario skinned Sonic adventure, or the bayonetta skinned devil may cry.

If it was going to dominate the handheld market, the 3ds wouldn't still be going strong, getting releases and ports the switch doesn't.

this makes no sence lol mario skinned sonic adventure really? mario had 3d games way before sonic adventure, not that both games even share anything... besides the category of being a platformer i guess...

Zelda and assasins creed is even worse, the only thing they share is like hmm open world lol, if you ever played any assasins creed game you should know its nothing like zelda at all.

Theyre fine with their exclusives.

They are trying to captivate some of the players who likes the style of sony games.
Thats why the child and family friendly nintendo introduces Mature games such as Doom, payday, LA noire. They tend to enter the home consoles as well. At least they are trying.

as i already said, i dont think they are lacking in software, first parties arent enough, but there is enough third party support now, the problem is that the console itself doesnt feel like a nintendo portable, it doesnt feel durable or well built
