So I was playing psx and n64 games yesterday and I noticed a random crashing and restarting during in-game. What I was thinking maybe the factors are:

- Heat issue: nes mini thermal hardware design cannot handle 3d games as N64 and PS4 which I think it lacks heatsink that could help. This also happens after I enabled "enhanced resolution (slow)" and smoothing for PSX and moved to glupen from mupen. After hours noticing it, I revert back the enhanced settings and still getting an issue.

- New Retroarch 171: I've never experience this issue on 170 though can be coincidence because I started to play PSX on 171.

- Settings: maybe there are options that is really unstable?

- Unstable emulation: probably just a coincident as I just played 4 games yesterday.

- Nes mini issue: maybe snes mini is just better hardware wise. In the net they were saying they are the same but if you look closely some tiny stuff is different.

I've actually heard about this but never knew they were running in retroarch.

I'm guessing... load your first cd in hakchi, copy 3cds over the new game directory, create m3u, then disk control should handle it properly?

Step by step:
  • Create a m3u file and write each cue filename, one per line, with cd1 on 1st line, cd2 on 2nd, etc
  • Add this m3u file in hakchi, change commandline bin/m3u by bin/pcsx
  • Manually, go in windows explorer and add cue and bin files in the same directory where there is the m3u.
  • Sync on snes.
  • Launch the game.
  • If you load a savestate, or load a previous ig save, from another cd than cd1 (cd1 will be the cd loaded each time you run the game): load the save and go in retroarch options/disc control. Open the virtual disc tray, change the index of the cd, close the virtual tray then choose resume.
I'm currently in cd2 (french version of ff8) and I haven't any problems until now. Just don't forget to change cd at each start before doing anything else.

Awesome! will try to do this at home.

Btw, in related to my post earlier. Are you running game stable so far on FF8? What is your retroarch core version? Did you change any settings?

I don't have my snes mini connected to check exactly the versions, but it's from a kmfdmanic pack of beginning of january 2018, so probably a 1.6 retroarch.

I didn't change any settings, or maybe just the resolution ratio to match the snes borders.
I played some psx games without problems even if I didn't do long sessions on each (except ff8, more than 25h): heart of darkness, rayman, pandemonium, megaman games, wipeout, castlevania sotn, gran turismo, metal gear solid, ff games, ... No crash or restart until now.

Interesting. I'll try the 1.7 and 1.6 later and see if I get some stability.

Is it maybe I use hdd instead of flash drive but doesn't make sense though lol

Been away for a while....

Anyway to update the roms via Hatchi to the external SD card yet without having to remove it, format it, and transfer the games, then put it back in the Snes Mini yet?

In FF8 PSX: In my testing so far, the hang/restart issue does have to do with retroarch versions or hdd/flash drive.

Everytime I enable "enhanced graphics" in Options, and "bilinear filtering" in Video... my nes mini hangs or restart after around 10-15minutes while in-game 3d scenes. If I play on "default" settings, so far it runs just fine.

Anyone having the same issue?

Hello!!
If any of you have this type of USB cable, forget it, it does not work.
KMFDmanic we know that you are a teacher, we hope that all cores can work with v2.30 and retroarch.

Ok this works. I see I can switch the cd # in the settings.

Though I think I would do is to m3u both combined first 3 cd and the last disc.

Good stuff!

**UPDATE 2-26-18**

This is the Big One:) Irem Decryption Fixed & All 3 MAME 2003 Cores are fully merged into one single entity! No more need to Dual MAME! So, now, Sega System 32 Games, Final Fight Sega-CD OST (thanks gpstar &, big blue frontend) and Standard (Had several Decrypted Data East Games, Killer Instinct 1 & 2 Support, etc!), are just one, Ultra, Amazing Arcade Core:) Enjoy the space save! /bin/mame2003 will be the Command Line Argument, henceforth! You can use Find & Replace in Xtras/Tools to quickly change command lines in all desktop files from /bin/mame2003-standard /bin/mame2003-sys32 /bin/mame2003-ffight TO /bin/mame2003 :) Or, any command lines to any other command lines, for that matter! I additionally did a tweak to make all MAME 2003 games boot faster. I also Updated FBA2016, NP2Kai, MAME2010, FCEUMM, and RetroArchs. Note: If one ever has conflicts Updating Cores and/or RetroArch, simply Uninstall Kernel/Flash Custom Kernel/Reinstall HMODS! This will clean up leftover remnants and ensure a nice and clean installation! Enjoy the Update! To expect next, this week, will be potential fixes to input saving for Controller 2, Video on how to make your own Cheat Codes for use on NESC/SNESC, more optimizations for PS1/N64, etc, Sega-CD Save Fix, Enjoy the Update!!! (Personal Thanks to madmonkey (always goes up and beyond the call of duty!) & arcadez & twinaphex (tremendous MAME 2003 libretro Guys!) & any and all Irem Fans out there, including realcreamstick, Super Steaman, and klurman! Irem for life!)

No, None of the RetroArchs in my set will run with Hakchi2.30 as of yet. You would need to run them with Hakchi2 CE and any Hakchi1 or 2 Version, previous to that:) FFMPEG is pretty nice:)
Use /bin/retroarch-ffmpeg or simply run via Dummy Folder! 480p and less:) Very nice, though!

Glad to see you are still around, nearly 2 years later!

Yes doesn't quite have anything to do with it. The problem is that there is a new busybox in Hakchi2.3 that is not in any other Hakchi2, 1, nor CE Version. So, it would only work with Hakchi2.3. This will confuse a lot of people, who are accustomed to using Hakchi1, 2 previous versions, as well as who have tried CE, and of course, those used to the RetroArchs in my set:) Basically, if the busybox is updated to be in Hakchi2 CE, as an example, then my RetroArchs were updated to work with the new busybox, then No earlier version of Hakchi2 would function with the RetroArchs without also changing those, theoretically speaking, of course. A whole bunch of conflicts come out of all of this:) And, confusion for many! The only thing to really do is just help people know the distinctions between what works and what doesn't until the time of such coding changes:)

Does this mean you have updated psx hmods? Because my kernel was already cleaned up before I'm getting the stability issue.

I'll try uninstalling them again.

PSX runs really hot when enhanced options was enabled. So far all default runs pretty stable --- but I cannot ignore that 2 options I've mentioned makes PSX games looks better.
