My laptop (costed $200 brand new):

i5-8250U clocked to 4.3GHz (outperformed my friend's i7-7700k, lel)
256GB SSD
GTX MX150 (essentially a 1030)
1920x1080 laptop display

Additions:
1280x1024 DELL monitor
1920x1080 HP monitor
Logitech K350 Keyboard (literally the best keyboard you can get. Makes all gaming keyboards look like cheap shit, kek)
2TB HDD
uh.... I call bs on this.

https://ark.intel.com/products/124967/Intel-Core-i5-8250U-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz

Boosts up to 3.4GHz. How on Earth would you get it to 4.3? And even if you can, how about the cooling? And fuck, it still is a U series CPU. It's not exactly a 7700K. And no, you don't get a CPU like that for that price.

Well, I have another laptop I think deserves the "sad PC specs" award. I still use it for... I don't know why.

It's a Gericom Overdose MC 1540.

It has an amazing Intel Pentium M at 1.5GHz and I upgraded it to 512 MB of DDR RAM.
It has a 40GB IDE HDD. It's a beautiful machine, I'll say, but completely useless given its specs. I use it to write and stuff. I like the display and the keyboard.
It currently runs Lubuntu 14.

This is a picture I found by googling it.

God, sometimes I wish I still had my old Compaq pc with 6150se nforce 430 integrated graphics. It's probably just the feeling associated with those times. But still. that shit was comfy as hell.
Trust me, you don't want to.

You guys want sad? Here you go:

- BIOSTAR N61-M2S+ motherboard
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.3GHz
- 2x2GB DDR2 Kingston RAM @ 667MHz
- nVidia (yes, it was called that back then) 6150SE integrated graphics chipset
- no, no dedicated graphics card (been thinking of getting something really low-power, like a GT 710)
- 1440x900 display
- 320GB SATA2 WD Caviar Blue HDD @ 7.2K RPM
- a DVD drive I'll eventually rip off because it's pretty much dead and all it does is make weird noises

Runs both Windows 10 LTSB and Debian buster but I spend pretty much all my time in Debian.

And yes, this is my current, every-day system. And it's complete garbage, but holds a special spot in my heart (and my empty wallet).

Sounds like an interesting build. How does Windows 10 run on it? Do you notice a lot of hiccups?

It's actually pretty smooth for the most part but it sucks terribly for anything requiring GPU assistance - I can't even watch 720p60 videos on YT. I don't do a lot of gaming, but when I do, it's fucking awful. I can't get 60fps even on ancient games like UT GOTY, although Win10 is more at fault than the GPU here (worked perfectly on Win7).

On the other hand, it boots up ridiculously fast when compared to anything else: about 20 seconds from power button to login screen, and this is an old BIOS mobo with a pretty slow POST, on a clunky mechanical hard disk.

Thankfully, the CPU is actually pretty damn good for it's age. It's one of the first CPUs with VMX which instantly makes it a lot better (if you're like me, you probably need two OSes running concurrently) and despite it's high TDP (65W) the cooling system I got with it is excellent. I've only replaced the thermal paste once and it holds steadily at about 30-45 degrees Celsius. In hindsight, it's probably the best component of the entire system, unless I get a new GPU (not like it'd matter a lot, since I've got a single PCI-E 1.0 x16 slot)

Was packaged in the wrong box so BestBuy couldn't sell it as a regular item and it ended up under the refurbished rack. The guy told me he'd hide it until they finished marking it down (went from $629 OG price, to $419, then to $379, then to $279, then to $205).
I think this is a normal practice for Best Buy. I was looking at studio beats2 witeless. They went down to 189, then back to 299. Finally, after kicking myself for a few days, they went down to 159. I snagged them up. 299 is waaay too much for headphones, for me anyway.

Please don't ask why an i3-6100; long story short, was on a budget and my friend sold me his 970 for less than 200$ cad.

Sad specs. because I have an i3-6100 paired with a GTX 970.
How bad does it bottleneck? Just curious

Actually, that's integrated into the motherboard, not the CPU. I don't think there's ever been an Athlon with an integrated GPU.
As a matter of fact, I think the first AMD CPUs with a graphics chip were the APUs, but don't quote me on that...

I'd guess they came up with that name for their first CPUs with integrated graphics. Seems like a way to try and sell more lul

Motherboard: Laptop ASUS X456UB
CPU: Intel Core i7 6500u 2.50GHz
RAM:8GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 520 + Nvidia GeForce 940M 2GB VRAM
Storage: SSD 480GB Crucial BX200
Optical: DVDRW HL-DT-ST GUE1N
Display: 14inch 1366x768

Good stuff to say true but what makes me sad is that 940M. If I had waited a month or 2 I could have scored a laptop with the much better 950M or at least the 940MX for the same price.

Processor: 2 x Intel Xeon X5690 @ 3.47GHz
Memory: 192GB (isn't as crazy expensive as you would think since this is server memory)
Graphics: 750 ti low profile (Server is rack mounted and only 2u tall so needed the low profile)
Hard drives: 1 x 500GB (cache drive) + 7 x 8TB (media/data)

Memory: 192GB (isn't as crazy expensive as you would think since this is server memory) What are you going on about I work for a PC / Server build company I can tell you server memory costs more than desktop memory currently! So making out its cheaper as its server memory is incorrect!

That is currently, it could have been cheaper before

Here's a cheapo PC that I recently bought for my garage to be mainly used as a general purpose/HTPC

Dell Optiplex 775 (not SFF)
Intel Xeon X3363 (LGA 771 to 775 mod)
2 GB RAM
60 GB HDD (used to have another 500 GB one but I've moved that to my main rig as a "torrent storage" HDD - might install an older but larger IDE drive on it from the junk pile I have down there)
GTX 550 Ti

Not bad for the price I've paid it but I sure as hell won't be running any modern games on this thing
