You forgot an "I don't care/not fussed" option in the vote :)

- For business reasons, I'm not sure whether Nintendo will release 3D World 2 on Switch. I think too many people (general public, casual gamers) will think it's Odyssey 2 and get confused. Nintendo would have to do a damn good job marketing it correctly so that people don't get the two mixed up.
- I definitely think 3D World will be ported to the Switch. It's only a matter of time. It was too big of a hit for it to be experienced only by the relatively small user base of the Wii U.
- I don't care for a 3D World sequel because I don't seem to enjoy the 3D Mario games. I find the action side of it clunky and I spend more time making sure Mario is aligned correctly in 3D space. 2D Mario games are just BAM BAM BAM, quick and accurate. if you die it's your own fault, not because you can't tell where the hell you're going to land because of the camera angle, etc.

I'd prefer they keep trying innovative Marios, as nice as 3DWorld was to look at, it wasn't very creative in ways of originality. Mario 3DLand on the 3DS worked because it was actually 3D. 3DWorld was more on par with a polished version of 64. Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey are far more original.

Don't we have odyssey tho? haha anyway i think a new galaxy game would come out rather than a 3d world/land.

i hope not. 3D world was a bit average. the time limit and simplicity was too much for me.

I'd much rather some form of papar mario release tbh.

Maybe there's a chance for SM3DW to get ported? But I'd rather they made fresh new Mario games in the vein of Odyssey. I'd kill for a Super Mario Galaxy 3. Short of that, maybe they'd try a port of SM3DW? Let's also not forget that they licensed Super Mario Galaxy to Nvidia in China for their Shield TVs (which run practically the same hardware as the Switch), and those are in full 1080p. I hope we see that come on the Switch sometime. Super Mario Galaxy is my GOAT, because it holds some fond memories.

Please no. There's some nostalgia factors that would be ruined porting SM64 to a new engine.
You're lame.

I think killing will get you thrown in jail. I dunno. I would have to check the law for that to make sure.

I can see the appeal, but with the success of Odyssey, I think what Nintendo will focus on for Mario on the Switch will be a sequel to that game. And I have to imagine that they're going to release a Switch version of Super Mario Maker. Maybe after that and Odyssey 2 are out there would they consider a 3D World 2 or NSMB Switch, but I think that would become One Mario title too many for the system at that point.

Perhaps, however, they'll expand upon Super Mario Maker, allowing for up to 4 player simultaneous multiplayer like the NSMB and 3D World games allow. Though I don't expect the Mario Maker to allow for 3D level design, so that aspect of 3D World may not make it to the Switch, at least that's my perception of it all.

I want new games not ports. I already have the wii u games if they just port old games there's no incentive for me to buy a switch. if they come out with sm3dw 2 or galaxy 3 or even an odyssey 2. Then i''ll jump all over it :)

The thread is about a sequel to SM3DW, not a port.

Agreed. But I think some sort of 2D-style 3D mario in the same vein as 3D Land and World is inevitable. They sell very well and are much quicker/cheaper to make than open world 3D Marios.

I think it will be a sad day for the gaming industry when games are churned out in a certain style because they're quick/cheap to make. I know Telltale do this with the lego series and they've all but lost their identity because if you've played one, you've pretty much played them all. The only time that differed was when they made Lego City Undercover. I am not sure I understand what you mean with a 2D-style mario in 3D. That is kind of what New Super Mario Bros is if I am understanding you correctly. I heavily doubt they would ever remake their 2D Mario games in the same style, because the fans love them how they are. What I would like is a Mario version of Sonic Generarions. Something happens in the story and Mario has got to visit all his old games, this would allow for them to do levels in all of the various art styles they've used so far. It would be great.

I wouldn't mind the idea of a '3D All-Stars', both World and Land upscaled, in one package...World was a great laff in multiplayer and better than NSMBU in single player in my opinion, but it's rather 'forgettable': aside from the gold train level and the multi-mario cherry there's pretty much nothing I can remember about it (and Land was great for 5 minutes with the 3D slider on, but even more forgettable apart from that) ..So I'd rather a quick remake, and instead spend that time and imagination on a new Mario, or an Odyssey sequel ;)

I think Nintendo should really only be porting games which didn't sell well due to the Wii U's failure as opposed to the game. Although compared to normal platformers, 3D world is a solid 9-10, compared to Mario games its a 7-8. Of every Mario game I've played, sadly SM3DW is one of the most underwhelming when comparing it to Oddysey, Sunshine, Super Mario 64 and Galaxy 1/2

It will be a quick port, and but I'm not sure if it'll generate enough cash or quality compared to the other games.

I'd personally rather have no ports other than Galaxy 1/2/Sunshine (if they can do it right). Or if Nintendo really want to bring the cash home, a full remake of Super Mario 64... but even then I feel the effort required to remake it would be better placed in a NEW Mario game.

You’re wrong, 3D Land was even worse
yeah but 3dland had an excuse that is was a 3d mario game on a very weak handheld, on wiiu they could easily have made something bigger and better and smg series if they want to, they werent using a 300mhz cpu on wiiu to do sm3dw.
