I left my Wi-Fi on and didn't get banned. :/ Stupid decision, maybe, but it worked out for me in the end.
Same thing here, I had Wifi, spotpass AND show currently played title with friends and I didn't get banned. I didn't play Sun/Moon/Fire Emblem early on my 3DS tho.

maybe it's a good thing, it weeds out the noobs so they can't play online anymore and makes them learn
alright, there just straight dumbasses if they try to play the game online before release, hell I turned off internet to play superstar saga and samus returns when they leaked even though they have no online play, just be safe if your gona live on the edge
Not only they played online, some people put hacked shinies on the GTS before the game's release. I remember that someone took a screenshot of a shiny Litten that some spanish dude put up for trade there just a few days after the leak. Rip that guy and the other one who went to check it

But even if you do that, Nintendo will know that you started playing before the game was even out the moment you connect online and possibly try to link your account to PGL (if you do) since trainer card data is sent when connecting online for the first time and every time you sync with PGL. Why not just wait for the game to come out, THEN play?
Afaik if you disable Spotpass, stay COMPLETELY offline (Wi-Fi disabled), remove the game's data from the Journal app & delete ALL data created by the game on the day of release (both savegames and other SD/streetpass data) you should be safe. You should also be able to hide the fact that you've played the game early by modding the start date from your savegame but you'd still have to delete everything else and hey, better safe than sorry!

Doubt it. When a leak happens while review copies are in the wild the same reviewers aren't given review copies again for obvious reasons.
Lurantis wasn't a reviewer, he most probably was an owner or clerk at a mom 'n pop game shop in russia (the leaked copy was russian) or obtained a ROM from PKHeX's team or somebody else who got it early too (the first screenshot he posted showed no manual for a physical 3DS cartidge in the home menu, which indicates that he used a flashcart as all retail games are supposed to have have a digital manual)

That's what I said. I was talking about keeping your save from before release and going online with it once the game is out. If the start date is off, you risk a ban, ESPECIALLY if you link to PGL (since it syncs every time). About the sync thing though, I REALLY hope it's not forced automatically like in Sun and Moon and is instead manual like in gen 6. I hate having to wait half a minute just to connect online!

Oh alright, I didn't think you were referring to that in your post!
But anyways, yeah - I ended up unlinking my PGL account from my Moon cartridge just because it would sync up everytime I connected online, which was too much of an hassle. Gamefreak fix plz.

Not that anyone will see this, but if the leakers will kindly put on their links in giant bold letters "ONCE INSTALLED KEEP YOUR WIFI OFF UNTIL RELEASE DAY", that would be great.

If you're feeling extra unsecure from yourself, then go to the System Settings and wipe the connection settings (just don't forget to store passwords somewhere beforehand)
(Also this allows you to piss people off over StreetPass without connecting to the Internet)

Why are people so against hyperbans and try to prevent them? Let retards and idiots play and get banned! After all, the vast majority of them are gonna cheat anyway when the game is out, so we won't really lose anything.

Because everyone and their mother will be asking "How do I unban and what caused it" like we didn't just go through this last year.

Also, define cheating. The servers have a decent enough legality check to prevent any illegal builds from passing.

For the last time, what's so bad about us entertaining ourselves with the idiots? When they come asking about it we can just make up a troll fix for them and have them try it for the laughs!:P

And the servers ban illegal stuff almost exclusively if linked to PGL AND battling on the battle spot! Just doing battles with randoms, which is the only fun way to have battles, doesn't have the anti-legality check and same goes for trades too among other things.

And there we go again, defining and redefining "legit", "legal" and "illegal". The thing is, it's very much possible to recompile current NTR plugins for online support. This is MUCH scarier than any Pokemon with possible stats, legit or not.

can't really call it a leak if it's the same game being released over and over again.
if Nintendo had used regular naming convention this would be Pokemon 55.

Same with any other franchises. Which are your favorite?

Anyway, this is a full game leaking, and the last year it was a demo of USUM leaking so you're partially right :^)
(Isn't SM a demo of USUM? Don't @ me)

You know, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but you really have to be a special kind of idiot to go online with a still unreleased game and then assume you're not going to be banned. They 100% deserve it.

Oh I completely agree. That said there are enough idiots here as is, with people managing to fail even the simple drag-drop instructions on 3ds.guide. We don't need more.

My bet is that these Pokemon releases are given to reviews as digital only. So they can keep a harder control whom it's given to etc.

But a .cia dump will still leave no trace, so while they can guarantee (for the most part) that it's among their list of reviewers they can hardly tell which one unless he attaches his identity to the link somehow
