Anyone got ideas for Tales of PHan and Star Ocean , I think it needs a different value for its a exLorom and ExHirom game.

I know both are odd in that they use 48 megabits, but one uses the S-DD1 expansion chip, one could test Street Fighter Alpha 2 to see if it supports that processor?

so it seems that the background glitch in yoshis island is not an antiepilepsy patch but an emulation bug. :( begins at 1:20

i uploaded an untouched smw2 - yoshis island 1.1 ntsc-u rom to the snes mini (ID is CLV-Z-YNOOY) and played till i reached level 1-7 and the glitch is the same as in the snes mini stock rom.

So that might be one that playing on SNES9X might improve the game? Anyway to change the stock games to load with an alternate emulator?

In their defense man, they made a nearly perfect emulator FOR THE GAMES THEY INTENDED, it's not their fault that there are emulation bugs on games that were never meant to be used and that they likely never tested.

It's incredible that we can even get into the system with such ease, which I still very much think was a concious decision on their engineering team so be thankful.

Actually he's complaining about the bugs on the games that were already on the SNES mini, like the disappearing background in Yoshi's Island.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It's not the lag, it's the washed out colors and tinny/raspy sound, the sample frequency in Yoshi's Island went down from 32 kHz to 11 kHz, the crying was made worse, and the cool offsets badly ported.

It was designed for a 'darker' screen.

Right, emulation isn't perfect, and the only one that is, Higan, would require one helluva CPU to emulate full speed. Still better emulation than the garbage that is Wii U Snes VC.

I know, and the GBA games look like s**t on bright screens without color adjustments.

The SNES Yoshi's Island isn't on the Wii U. Some of the emulators can do Yoshi's Island much better than this emulator does. Without HIGEN. SNES9X runs Yoshi's Island on a hacked Wii, or PI better than on this system, without the graphics glitches.

As for the GBA ports, they used a different palette than the originals. There are patches to change the colors back to original colors though on Romhacking.net for many of the games.

It's NERD's first attempt at legitimate Snes emulation, cut them some slack  If it bothers you so much, just install RetroArch on the Snes Classic.

I've been working on SO. Though with no luck on either the normal version or decompressed hack.

For now I've moved on to Street Fighter Alpha 2. No luck with that either, but it's shooting blind when we have to guess at the preset id's still. So I've been working on finding and extracting SFA2 VC releases in hopes of learning more about its header and how we might get SDD-1 emulation working.

My sister bought to me SNES mini in Sweden but I will have to wait until Christmas. Until then I hope that Cluster will make new hakchi.

I will be installing SNES9X for many games.. just as I did for the NES MINI, where the better emulation is needed.

There is no reason to cut Nintendo slack on this since it needs to be complained about so they can improve it... unfortunately it can't officially be 'patched' fixed on this console. Hopefully some hacker can fix it though on the software level... and hackchi upload the patch.

Can't help you there, then. Either you risk doing it with the tools out, or wait for the official Haxchi program to release *shrug*. It's only one game that's affected, and even then, it only affects two levels. C'est la vie.

To help people converting their .sfc and .smc files to .srom using the wonderful python script I made this little batch file. Just have your snes roms in a folder, drop in the batch file and the python file then run the batch file.

It looks like this

FOR %%f IN (*.s?c) DO (
sfc2sfrom.py "%%f" "%%f".sfrom
)

Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot for the upload, but i still got same problem, also tried with an other rom, removed totaly python 2.X + 3.X, reboot computer then re install last python release and still got the same error :

C:\test>FOR %f IN (*.s?c) DO (sfc2sfrom.py "%f" "%f".sfrom )

C:\test>(sfc2sfrom.py "Aladdin (F).smc" "Aladdin (F).smc".sfrom )
usage: sfc2sfrom.py [-h] input output
sfc2sfrom.py: error: the following arguments are required: input, output

C:\test>(sfc2sfrom.py "mystic.sfc" "mystic.sfc".sfrom )
