I've modified my sega genesis USB hub in the picture to a pi and have got that loaded with all mame, amiga and Sega games etc. The nes mini runs every (decent) nes title and hopefully the snes mini will be able to run a few more snes games soon too. :)
Pretty cool, looks like a nice project for me. Is that USB hub an official product of Sega, does the plastic feel cheap and is this for sale in Europe?

I'd say at this point, if it's not done by tomorrow it'll be the next day, most of the other stuff is trivial for him at this point.
The hardest part is figuring out that SFROM header type, once that's done I'm sure the tool will be out in hours of that.
Maybe we need a separate tool to convert “normal” roms into SFROM files after he figures it out.

Can you explain the Sega game hub to me... Is it a mini emulator? I know there have been a bunch of subpar Genesis plug and plays out there over the years, but what exactly is this?

Yes i´ve done the same. I Installed a Raspberry Pi Zero W inside and installed retropie and now i can play all my Sega Megadrive and Mastersystem games on a ''Sega Classic Mini - Sega Megadrive''. It also has a working switch :)

Now that’s awesome man, any guides on how to do this with the sega?

I got my sega hub cheap on eBay a while ago but I see they've rocketed in price now!

I put a pi zero in mine as it was an easy fit (and fine for the games I wanted to play) but you can squeeze a pi 3 in there:

Sorry for taking thread off topic!.

Hopefully some news from ClusterM soon? :)

It's not "off" I have an OLED tv and the black borders aren't areas which display nothing. It's a black border. I hope we can make the screen fit top and bottom though because I'm not a huge fan of the letterbox we have now.

Anyway looking at Cluster's progress it's clear we'll also be able to make our own borders.

Since he's added successfully games to the system you can mark it as officially hacked.

It doesn’t really matter if it’s an off or on because most modern wide screen TVs have black bars around be 4:3 content. Unless you put them in stretch mode if the TVs offers it which looks horrible.

There is also color matching borders that if could work with the Super Gameboy could attempt to match the Super Gameboy color borders main colors. To offer extended display appearance. Alternatively using the wood grain border around the snes border ms will give an almost arcade cabinet look to the games which sometimes did have borders within borders.

The original gameboy itself the protective window acted as a borders around the viewable screen which also had grey (play it loud colors) borders of the plastic system itself. So depending on what you choose it can still look good or bring back nostalgia.

My main point however is more to the fact that sure some gameboy games have no improvements with Super Gameboy but for the few games specifically built for it, or which super gameboy has built in modes, the ideal way to play those games is on the super gameboy. Like Donkey Kong game which was the first to come out for super gameboy has full color maps (as far as I know know emulator can directly use those colorization and it will come out as dull 4-6 colors or GBC/GBA default color choices), and improved sound. Space invaders had a proper full color snes mode a completely different game. Animaniacs has snes music.

There is probably only 30 games total in which super gameboy is the most authentic and best way those games were meant to be played. The GBC/GBA were never designed to access those enhanced modes. Though it did offer its own built in modes for a few games.

Beyond that there were some Gameboy Color games that were also Super Gameoboy enhanced but mostly to add a border. These however are more properly played on a Gameboy Color, however there are some emulators out there that can play in full GBC mode but also activate the full color borders as well, which can be fun to play with.

The WII VC header is documented very well here. I can understand that @ClusterM and others probably want to release a nice one click tool which works 100%.

It should be trivial to replace a game in the on-board emulator by ftp at this point, but i'm curious to see what we can learn from the ones installed. I'll dig into the 30 games now :)
I love the buttery smoothness of the device btw. Much better than anything i saw before.

Its an impressive piece of tech, as of right now its the only official way to get Yoshi's Island, Star Fox or this new Star Fox 2... Yoshi's Island and Star Fox were never on Wii, or Wii-U probably due to lack of FX/FX2 chip support... Hopefully once its hacked the other FX/FX2 chip games can be added to it. It will also be nice to add the games that were either on Wii or Wii U at one time or another, plus games that never made it to either console. The colors are a lot more crisper than they appear on either system...

Now if only Nintendo can make a improved N64 emulator for N64 mini that includes built save games and save states and adds games that have been left off of VC due to need for external memory cards (like Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness), improved color (not the darker screen that WII VC has) and improved compatibility (for more GC games that haven't made it to the VC yet) well everything would be great! No one has yet made a very good Gamecube emulator to handle the different ways designers tackled making games on the system, and it would be nice to know if Nintendo introduce a faster, more wider compatibility version to the market. However, I wonder if they'll have to use a different faster board, and maybe add a fan to the system to keep up with each games demands?

As I understand it retroarch emulators for N64 leave a lot to be desired, and very few games work with them correctly. Same can be said on PI 3, only a few games work decently, and many have broken features, not fully emulated yet.

Are there any unwanted features on the SNES Mini system such as epilepsy filters, which will need a disabling option?
