I am curious about how transferring would work. I recently installed cfw with 3ds.guide on my o3ds and realized how much nicer it is and how I want a n3ds now.

First question, is it safe currently to buy a refurbished n3ds? or should I be worried about firmware? I have an acekard 2i and full access to my current 3ds with cfw if that helps.

I'm not really sure how transferring works with 3ds systems in the first place, as I've never done it. what I want transferred are the ownership of the titles in the eshop that I have purchased but not necessarily all the downloaded games. right now I Have every game I've purchased downloaded (including ambassador and other titles) on my 3ds but I'd rather start fresh and pick and choose on my own with the new 3ds. is there an option for this?

I would also be transferring to a bigger SD card

How does transferring work when it comes to cfw?

Transferring works roughly the same on a CFW'd console.
All legit titles will be transferred, so all the games you bought will be transferred over.
Illegitimate (pirated) titles don't get transfered.
I think it also transfers games and saves over, so I don't think you'll be able to pick and choose.

If you have an Acekard 2i, you can flash it with NTRBoot and use that to hack your n3ds.

If you use the computer transfer method, all of the data is still technically on the SD card. It's simply showed in the system settings as greyed out.

To the OP, make sure you make NAND, ticket, and save backup of your source system. With the ticket backup, you can restore your games.

Can the ticket backup be done one-for-all, as in, it backups all tickets and restores them on the target system, effectively making every title reappear in one go?

I am actually not totally sure and google is giving me a mix bag of results. I did this last November, so been quite some time since I had to do this.
