maybe, HOLD a button and press some others... or hold both trigger buttons on the joy-cons may actually trigger it
I am thinking on a way possible it could be triggered by a person that left the switch on a surface and the joy-cons possibly "pressed" in some form.
@Setery did you have your joy-cons attached to the grip or to the switch or not attached to something when it was triggered? (you said it was docked, but they can be with the console)

Well not really. They have ports of games that are good, but is just a port. If you look at the port of the Sega 3DS games on 3ds eshop, they offer some new features to the game on top of the port. Like sonic one having spin dash, or sonic 2 not losing all rings when hit just some, or gunstar heroes instead of being stuck with fixed or free shoot option, you can switch anytime mid game. Not that hamster ports are bad, just the other company ports offer something more than just being a clone to the new system. Code mystic ports of neo geo games on ps4 and vita have online multiplayer, hamster just has the same game as it was in the arcade. No offense, but i appreciate the little extra effort to change up the game especially if we are replaying a old game.
Again, Is nothing wrong with their ports, maybe they won't even be doing VC, they only mentioned Arcade archives so they probably stick to that. It was just a idea that lead me to believe it will be possible. Honestly I assume they will continue with M2 as their main VC programmer since they been doing it on wii u with the GBA games which did stuff I didn't even considered would have been done like the e reader levels in super mario advance 4 or secret chips in mega man battle network. Honestly i wanted to see more GBA ports cause of it but wii u got dropped.

Seriously I'm all for a good easter egg hunt, but i'm concerned for the people looking for something good only to be found with disappointment, is like playing uncharted, watching nathan drake hunt for some super gold mine lost treasure of history to get rich only to find is some curse that the clues was warning people to stay away from and then he ends up saving the world. VERY DANGEROUS Adventures, only to end up saving the world empty handed. That is worst than finding a rotten easter egg.
Golf, maybe if it was nes remix 3 or something, I be more excited than golf. A VC emulator that create and submit remixes for other players to play, now that i be excited for. That is a golden easter egg

Just had to go to the window, grab the switch only by the joycons while i put it outside the window, then kickly press both joycons detach buttons. The NEs emulator appeared like magic in the screen

Lol, someone should try swinging the joy cons like a golf-club.
This is a pretty neat find, hopefully other cool little things are hidden in there.

Anyways, I would say it could be a button combo at the start of booting up or possibly similar to the 3ds browser Easter egg with the Mario theme (maybe it could be the Zelda theme or something?)
Who knows, maybe this is being saved for when the browser official is released.

Hasn't it been confirmed that NERD will be handling all Nintendo Virtual Console titles pushing forward after the success of their DS VC titles on the Wii U and how well their work on the NES Classic had been received. I'm certain I rememeber reading about that. Having said that, I'm sure something like the Arcade Archives aren't being considered technically a part of the virtual console service (I still think the Wii U's actual virtual console will be a netflix like service instead of what we've grown so accustomed to), and that would be why the Arcade Archives might be developed by a team other than NERD.
I have no clue, I dunno even know about NERD. But M2 has been doing the wii u GBA ports and 3DS sega classics 3D port on eshop. Whoever is doing the vc for switch said that it will have online multiplayer so it better be good.
