this requires boot loader unlocking my tool does that but that is the part i need help with as it doesnt use the regular fastboot oem unlock (code here) format
Fastboot oem unlock is the command to do yes. But nothing after. No code needed.
OEM unlock needs to be activated from the developer settings.

how are done the rooting in general ?
patching the ROM on computer to edit and unlock it, then flash a full ROM binary ?
or tools launch on computer to edit something on the phone while powered ON in file transfer mode?
or can it be done directly on the phone with an app/apk ?

I guess it's binary patching.
you can unpack/repack the ROM image? how do you test it won't brick the phone?

I see.
I haven't use my dad's phone yet, so I'm not losing a lot (except hardware cost itself) if it bricks. no personal data would be lost.
I can wait until you see if you can do it with the provided tools/rom from their website.

I guess to pretend this is a survey asking what kind of phone I have, Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML? My phone was rooted until I updated to Marshmallow since Snapchat I think only now worked if the OS was updated. So I did, lost root, tried to root the new OS, ended up bricking the phone. Softbrick I guess, I was able to unbrick, and just not bother rooting again. And really the only reason to root is Snapchat, so I could use a 3rd party plugin, which eats less battery, and allows me to download snaps. I have NSFW snapchat accounts added, need I say more? I don't want the content to go away after 24 hours.

1) You can root on Marshmallow, try by using Kingroot and then SuperSU Swap to put SuperSU instead of Kingroot.

2) Snapchat blocks rooted phones, be sure to have a custom recovery installed and install Magisk on it, Snapchat doesn't recognize it. Magisk also root your phones (MagiskSU, what else ? (nespresso lawlz))

3) Snapchat login also relies on SafetyTest. If it fails, Snap blocks you for logging in. Other advantage of using Magisk. It litteraly makes it work, because MagiskSU is systemless, so it avoids SafetyTest problems

Do you know about the Casper app? It's the third party app I use in place of Snapchat. In the past couple months when I used it, I was quickly flagged and banned, moreover when my phone was unrooted. Surprisingly, been running it for almost a week, no ban, again phone still unrooted. My question is would this rooting method allow me to continue using that app? As well as making occasional Snapchat logins (in the rare event I chat with someone, Casper's chat feature doesn't work).

Yeah, normally it doesn't interfere with other apps. So you might be safe from using it.
+ As I've said, Magisk is systemless, but there is also a "Hide" feature which hides root from apps. So if you wanna be safer, you can hide root for Snap.

Yeah, Casper is said to be a "problematic" app for Snap, so you can ask for dem pimplez when you want to use Snapchat also.

Thanks a lot, I installed successfully. Had an issue where it kept booting to recovery after flashing, but apparently it's a device specific error, I looked up the solution, and everything's up and ready. Casper has a Root-only feature where it hooks onto a Snapchat session, meaning both apps end up logged in rather than one at a time. Hopefully this doesn't get me flagged.

No problem mate. Enjoy your rooted phone + Casper/Snap "hook-up".

Normally, I say normally, Snap is focusing on updating Snapchat to make it "stable" since this is what they want for a long time now.

No because with some other Sony phones it was slightly different

Bzst thing to do is to watch directly into Sony website, they are pretty open (they are also the only constructor that I actually possess a phone that give their source code open worldwide on Github) : https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
