This would be even better if it supported bootleg copies, my unfortunate self managed to buy a very convincing Pokemon Platinum copy that ended up being a bootleg (TWLSaveTool deemed it as an unsupported game and PKSM says insufficient save file size)
I had a similar issue recently, also with a pirated Platinum. I was able to back up the save using an R4i SDHC RTS Lite flashcart, but I used an NDS for that. NDS Backup Tool being the homebrew, the save is backed up and there was a wifi version of the tool that sent the file to your PC (needing a WEP connection, NDS doesn't support WPA). There's also NDS Adapter Plus, I had to fidget the cart a lot so it would recognize it. If you don't have access to those things, yeah, not a good spot.
I tried backing up my Pokemon Platinum game's file and the TWL won't recognize it. It claims there's no file detected or there's no data which isn't true at all, and I know my copy is official and not a bootleg, so I don't understand the issue. Other Gen4 games have worked fine, like HG/SS and D/P so I don't know why Platinum is having issues.
If you post a picture of your cart I can determine whether it is real or not. I have the same issue with my platinum cart and I found out it was a bootleg and was sorely disappointed. Oh well though. My r4 card is coming in the mail so I'll be able to use pkhex on platinum like I plan to

If I may, here's my pirated cartridge.
Here's the legit one.
Sticker edges are different, text on the back is different. I went 2 years thinking it was just fine and thought NDS Adapter Plus was just being a butthole to the cartridge, but I later learned how it was fake. Couldn't get a refund, so I got another cart.
I appreciate you being so willing to help out, hope these pictures are clear enough, because as far as I saw with RustInPeace's comparisons it looked authentic. I did get it back when Platinum came out from Gamestop.
the top cart is the one I own for Platinum. can confirm it is a PIRATE copy
the copy you have looks like it could be a legit copy but then I couldn't explain why your cart isn't working with the twlsavetool
Yeah, I don't get what the deal is either. It has worked before, but then one day it suddenly stopped. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and using both the CIA and the Homebrew versions of TWL so I don't know what's up. Oh, well.
If it worked before, does that mean you have a Platinum save in your SD card? Trying removing that and TWLSavetool can make a new one.
Unfortunately your cart is fake you see the code on the front CPUE ? The black code on the back is supposed to start with CPUE too. Also the font of Nintendo, Pokemon Company on yours is a little thin compare to real ones.Yeah, I don't get what the deal is either. It has worked before, but then one day it suddenly stopped. You can rename saves to the name used by a different generation Pokemon game, however I'm not sure different-language games can read foreign saves - it should be true for non-Japanese or Korean gen 4 ones, in any case trying is freeSo I recently picked up cartridges for all the Pokemon Games on the DS. I have the save files from a different region, can I still transfer to the cartridge? (Save Files are from the US Version, and i have PAL cartridge.)
