Hacking R4 NtrBoot

Yes I have two Zelda XLs with Cfw on them. Very proud of my babies ha ha.

Go onto 3ds.guide and follow the steps for ntrboot (just the card setup, not the actual CFW setup)

It obviously says my card isn't compatible. Is there a way to restore a backup of a working card to my incompatible r4? The use it to flash ntrboot to it? I know it's a likely brick but i don't really mind.

I can email you the backup.bin file for restore

I'm guessing it's because the HW Revision doesn't match.

God knows how long it will take for my R4 Gold to get here... Will be torture waiting for it! :(

Looks like there is no way to get rid of timebomb

It's not the end of the world it's just annoying to set the date backwards by a year or two to make it work again. Just wish the cards were flashable and someone could modify the file so it expired in like 2090 or something ha ha.

when you can just get a decent flashcart like the R4i Gold 3DS for around $16.
The problem is we already own R4i card. So if they can support all then we don't need to waste more money. I already have 4 r4i carts including dual core one. So yeah It bother's me to buy another one.

The timebomb is "fixeable" either by seeting date to something that was or by not using their firmware. Also, the timebombing should not affect NTRboot.
BTW is the dualcore really a clone? What is the original card?

They are working on supporting as many cards as they can. The problem is not all cards are flashable. Flashcards are for the most part read-only, which means you CAN'T write to them even if you wanted to. The devs have RE a few to achieve flashing (I believe the AceKard2i IS flashable OOB but don't quote me on that) so that we could use the "most" common cards.

I mean I guess it sucks if you bought some flashcards YEARS ago and want to use them, but I'd say you're overdue for a new purchase anyway. I know they plan to add at least two more cards, but I highly doubt every card/clone you MAY have is going to be supported. You can't have a PC from 2010 on windows XP and get upset that a program/game released in 2017 doesn't work on it, or isn't planned to be worked on to be compatible.

I hope they get the dual cores working as i have one although I've got a r4i gold on order.
