Flashcards being compatible doesn't seem possible. As it reads the ROM and save from the card directly into the emulator.

i dont know if its emulator inside the phone or if the cpu/gpu is in the smartbot and the smartphone is used only to display

I guess I've never tried it, because there's really no reason to... but I really don't see why they wouldn't, if they work on genuine hardware

Yeah, but now we have actual hardware. That was more or less the official announcement.

From what I watched a while ago? You use an emulator on the phone. It seems the smartboy hardware is used to read the cartridge rom and save. That's it. You're not actually running the game from the cartridge directly.. So to speak.

Yeah, I remember seeing this quite a while back.

In my opinion, though, if you're gonna go to the extent to play legitimate Game Boy cartridges on your phone with buttons, I'd recommend you just pick up any old Game Boy (Color/Advance). I've seen 'em lying around for $40.

Also, the prices for some of these Game Boy games are ridiculous. Like, jeez. $30 for frickin' Pokemon.

I like the concept but if I'm going all out retro then I'd rather play on my busted Game Boy than this hybrid.
