So, to answer your question as to why Gateway has stopped publishing updates, there's no reason for #4 to happen because of #3. If people were still buying Gateways, they would have a financial reason to publish compatibility updates.
- CFW is superior in every way to Gateway.
- CFW can be installed on any Gateway-compatible system for free.
- Because of #1 and #2, nobody buys Gateways anymore.
- Because of the flawed way in which Gateway works, each successive update from Nintendo requires Gateway to dedicate time and resources to publishing compatibility updates.
It is highly recommended that people move to B9S and Luma3DS and ditch Gateway entirely. Luma3DS and B9S are superior in every way, and Gateway can accidentally brick or remove B9S if used improperly with B9S systems.
Most likely either pride or desperation to continue to cling onto the what little they have. Hell it could easily just be the latter.I would have thought that if no one was buying gateways equalling no profit revenue for the makers. Why wouldn't they open source their launcher and let someone else deal with it?
I hate the install times of cias, its so slow.
You are right though If I didn't currently own a gateway I wouldn't buy one as Luma is free. I purchased mine back when there was no cfw, I have cfw setup as well, but i prefer the card.

I mean they got their userbase by the balls (to put it crudely) you either have to stick with them for .3DS ROM loading and cheats or where you don't have .3DS and a decent cheat engine. So keeping it close source keeps the userbase they haven't lost already.
Convenience. The only thing that has stopped me converting fully in the past is cias take so bloody long to install. Thats my ONLY reason, never really used the cheats but apparently it is better but not a reason for me personally.IMHO the right question is: why there are people who actually buy Sky3ds and GW and still not using b9s+luma?
There's basically a bit of work required to go from your current setup. You can still use your current emuNAND, but the gateway part (like saves and such) are going to require a lot of work.It maybe time to move on really. Launching that online hack so you can play online every time the 3ds turns on i foresee being a major pain in the arse, (I'm a very impatient person anyway...)
is there any setup where i could still use the gw with older games but have emunand setup for cfw or dya think i should just fuck gw off entirely?
it would be nice to convert the library but still be able to use gw on say 9.2 to quickly bang a game on the system whether for testing or whatever.

Because gw on sysnand is risky, it has possiblity of a brick or losing CFW.Can you have gw on sysnand 9.2 and luma for emunand? Or is there a reason the other way round is better? I've always kept sysnand as stock. I much prefer any cock ups to be isolated to emunand.
yes but you can use Luma on sysnandCan you have gw on sysnand 9.2 and luma for emunand? Or is there a reason the other way round is better? I've always kept sysnand as stock. I much prefer any cock ups to be isolated to emunand.
It'll be an opportunity for the clones, if they are really dead it would'nt be dumb, but if they still care, won't happen.I would have thought that if no one was buying gateways equalling no profit revenue for the makers. I would honestly never suggest using Gateway on your sysNAND. It lacks FIRM0/1 protection and without that, any update will remove your hacks (and brick the n3DS, if that is still an issue with B9S. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.)Can you have gw on sysnand 9.2 and luma for emunand? Or is there a reason the other way round is better? I've always kept sysnand as stock.
