So I was reading through my Google news feed and this article about the switch and it's recent success came up. In the article the author claims his theory that he thinks the switch will fail because of the supposed overheating issues that caused the switch to warp reported on Reddit a while back and Sony and Microsoft have no reason to worry about the switch. In his comments section he even claims that he thinks Nintendo is causing the supply issues purposely to fix the overheating issue. He also is making all these claims even though he doesn't even own a switch. What do you guys think? Personally I think he's full of bullshit since the overheating issues haven't even been 100% verified and iirc some of them even got disproved. Nintendo's main issue with the switch in the future imo are going to be third party developer's and fixing the online service.

Hey I play hours of breath of the wild (and by that i mean leave it on while I eat chicken and pizza watching youtube videos) and is never a problem for me. Is not over heating if it has a air vent with fan. My shield portable was the same way, so i doubt it will have any issues, nvidia make good hardware. :)

The only issue I have is the ungodly battery life on it with that specific game. Is horrible, hope a update can fix it. :(

Thank goodness i got a powerbank cause it takes about 12 to drain it all O_O

Over heating issue?
I guess I didn't make myself clear in my original post, my bad. I (and the author of that article) were talking particularly about the issues where the switch was supposedly bending due to overheating. I shared the article here because I thought it was an interesting theory even though it doesn't have anything to really back the article up.

Nope. Overheating won't happen unless you intentionally try to overheat it. That guy is full of shit.
Edit: Holy shit, that article is a joke (not literally) I thought journalists (I'm pretty sure they're journalists) have to pass a basic English class to get a degree. Their grammar sucks.

No that's not the reason. People have tested and it falls well within safe temperatures during normal use. As shown above in the video by spawnwave you have to intentionally wrap it up to get it to overheat beyond normal. I think most people assume it's overheating because they aren't used to the idea of a portable console getting warm to the touch. Even after playing fast rmx docked for an hour I didn't think it was getting too hot, it wasn't even as warm as my phone gets sometimes.
The real issue is nand shortages, which is probably because flash memory has a global shortage right now

The hilarious part is that he still sticks by his claim even though he's been disproved. Someone should go post the video earlier in this forum over there. He said if someone made a video disproving his claim of overheating he would take down the article.

Does Switch still have a supplying issue? Here I can easily purchase 10 if I wanted to. It used to be rare when I got my, but not anymore.

We've already discussed this a million times across several threads. Availability varies greatly between locations. Here in Vegas it is still difficult to get. Not as difficult as before but still a pain (at least in my area, Vegas is huge and takes an hour just to drive to the other side of the city)

It's a handheld with loads crammed into it, of course heat will help with deterioration, we may be talking YEARS though.

Computer components get far hotter than the switch does and I still have my graphic cards from 2005 still working. So no if the device is built properly the damage is negligible compared to standard electronics degrading. The battery will likely be the first thing to go as is with most portable devices that aren't damaged by the user.

Your computer components are not crammed into a little case with a tiny hole in the top for the heat to escape.

But even still I actually burned myself touching my graphic card once. Can't say the same about the switch. So no space doesn't effect it because it is a lower powered chip. Even in the smaller space it doesn't get as hot. Your argument was that heat would kill it, and testing has shown it experiences normal levels of heat even in its more cramped enclosure.
