Hacking Ps2 game crashes ps3

It doesn't load slow at all. For me atleast it boots up instantly using a chinese clone network adapter that uses Sata disks instead of the Original network adapter that only uses IDE.

The PlayStation 3, known for the furious Red Light Of Death is overheating really easily while emulating a PlayStation 2 game. I thought everyone knows that but you seem to be a special case. Nevertheless it can be really dangerous to continue what you’ve been doing so far. It can have and will have a really bad impact on your console. The life of your PlayStation will be shortened to 1 year, if you’re lucky.
Why this happens is because many custom firmwares really badly handle the overheating issues of the PlayStation 3, especially the slim models. If I were you I would buy myself a real Sony PlayStation 2 and enjoy the good old classics like they were meant to be enjoyed. It is a really dangerous and stupid setup that you own right now and is operating for you in a daily basis.

There is no harm whatsoever in running PS2 games on a non-BC PS3 as PS2 classics do it already. They don't always run very well but it will not cause any damage to the console.

CFW brings the possibility of far superior "handling of the PS3s overheating issues" by using programs like Webman to keep the console below a certain temperature. This allows for separate control when running PS2 games which if set improperly might bring the possibility of overheating and damage... but that would be user error

Anyway @TherealDarknes I know in this case there are ways round it but I have had the non-BC PS2 emulator cause all sorts of strange issues including crashing (in more obscure games)

Try a config file with the settings listed here (under the label for Katamari Damacy, of course). If the issue isn't your hardware dying, that should fix it right up. You shouldn't need to update Rebug for this to work, as support for CONFIG files was added in version 4.81.2/Cobra 7.5. Additional details can be find on the release page for 4.81.2 as well as on the previous link I gave you, however the explanation for how to actually go about creating a CONFIG file is a bit vague, so here's the breakdown.

To apply the config patch, copy the hex code under "Config Data" for that game (from the first link), and paste it into a new file in a hex editor like HxD. Then save this as the exact name of your game with .CONFIG at the end, and place it in the same folder the ISO is in on your PS3. For instance, if your game file on the PS3 is named Katamari.ISO, your new config file will be named Katamari.ISO.CONFIG

I have just now tried this and first it gave me an error for not having config capitalized I changed that it tells me katamari damacy has loaded this time I start it and black screen it says no signal but the ps3 is running and it appears to have started a ps2 game because the lights on top of the controller went off what do I do now I don't get it

I had the same problems the other day running games on my BC PS3, just to triple check what PS2 emulator mode are you running in Rebug settings, Cobra or original?

I know you've probably got that covered but doesn't hurt to triple check

I'm really no expert sorry but I would guess it just doesn't like running on a non-BC PS3, I've had all kinds of issues running them on my Slim which is why I've switched to a 60GB now.

Are you using an ISO dumped from your own disc? I've had games crash due to bad dumps and tried the dump again and they work fine. If you downloaded it try it from somewhere else. Basic suggestions I know but the best I've got lol

The config file mentioned is for the Japanese version of the game, hence the black screen.

Have you tried using something like psn stuff to download the ntsc-u pkg? Long time since I've done it personally so not sure if psn stuff is still a thing.

Thanks man I had tried PSNdl and I had looked everywhere for a us version I didn't even know PSN stuff was a thing but they did have the file
