GCN how does one play "backups" on ones Gamecube?

Could someone point me in the right direction?
I plan to make a portable and the disk drive is too big.
With or without modchip.

Tho you'll need a hacked Wii to copy the hacked saves onto your GCN memcard.
Also, an SD gecko is needed to load them via SD with Swiss.

I'm pretty sure you need the disc drive if you aren't using a modchip. To softmod, you need an SD memory card adapter and an Action Replay disc in the drive to boot .DOL files.

There are software options but they really really suck to use. I highly recommend soldering in a wiikey to load via SD card. There should be documentation on how to do that out there somewhere. I used to own one that was modded that way but forgot who did it.

You don't need a game and memory card with save if you use an Action Replay. It will detect a .DOL in the memory card slot and an option in the menu appears called 'FREELOADER'. You can boot Swiss from there. http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/GCN-Freeloader---PAL__EF000198.aspx
