So I've been thinking about this a lot: How exactly does the connection of GameBoy Player and GameCube work and could GCN games make better use of it?
Of course since it's an Add-on rather than built-in like the GBA-mode on the DS/3DS, I'd guess the GameCube would have no need to disable any of its features in order to run the GameBoy Player Hardware. But that also begs the question: Would GBP enhanced GBA games be able to use even more of the GameCube's features?
Like the Ethernet Adapter to play online or more than just the GBA buttons that are present on the GCN Controller?

And what if some GameCube games were programmed in a way to fully utilize the GameBoy Player Hardware?
Let's take Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire for example; normally it is only able to access the game's save data and even the built-in Adventure Mode instead uses Rom files already present on the disc to play the game. But on a technical level, could it be programmed to instead read directly from the GBP with no link cable required and even boot up the game directly from the cartridge?

Maybe even use the e-Reader with no link cable required and the GBA screen overlayed on top of the game that currently tries to receive e-Reader card data, like Pokémon Colosseum or Animal Crossing?

Sadly, I couldn't find much on how the GameCube and GameBoy Player work in tandem and I'd love to know more from people that are more knowledgeable on this topic!
