Not to bump an old thread.

But I am attempting to make a banner but when I install it the model is just whatever 3DS banner that was last displayed. I unticked the object things, ticked triangulate and such in blender's OBJ exporter.

Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering how this was done.
When I get to make my first ever game, I will have it pimped with the 3D banner and all that fancy stuff :creep:

First off, thanks. It took a lot of shit to get this done.

But now why I stopped updating the guide(and why I'll soon be getting back into it!).

I have been wanting to "upgrade" the guide but sadly I lost my 3DS a few days after finishing the beta version on this guide(I had two, trusted a 10 year old, and revived a nice bricked 3DS). Lucky for me, I managed to get the Black Friday New 3DS before it was sold out and it should be here in a few days.

And for your issue, it would help very much if you could send me the files via PM or somthing.

TL;DR Lost/Bricked both my 3DSes and could no longer work on this, lucky I got a new 3DS coming in soon and I'll be able to work on it.

Okay, PM later!

Can I use something else than Wings3D? I used Sketchup but it keeps cropping the textures when exported to OBJ
I don't exactly get what you mean by the textures are cropping but yeah, you can use any program just make sure the textures are names correctly and when you export to a OBJ it's set to triangulat (it might be named something else for you). I just recommend wings because it's simple.

I'll try this out at some point... is there any way to edit original 3D banners? For example, could I remove the blurry background from banners like the one for A Link Between Words? (see image below)

@gudenau Did you find a solution for your problem mentioned above? I have the same and I do not know how to make it go, I also use blender.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

edit: ok i figured it out, if someone else had the problem with blender, export it to fbx or dae and then convert it to obj with some tool

I was able to extract the .obj model for Pokémon X/Y with ctrtool. If you do this, you should be able to edit it to the point where the back wall is deleted.

uhh i cant name the file common on efe
