I know this likely wouldn't be possible and I might be better off just swapping out the card reader part with a new one off ebay or something but on to my issue. I while back a young relative of mine decided to try to shove stuff into slot 1 that didn't belong, one of the tabs inside is bent out shape and I assume this is why the ds light is not reading ds games anymore, it can still read gba games though. I'm looking for suggestions as to how you could possibly bend it back into shape. Sorry for rambling on but thank you in advanced.

Try using tweezers to bend it back into place

any idea how I could get to it easier? I tried to in the past but it's a bit to hard to get in there and I'm not sure how to go about dissembling it to get to it more comfortably

It's already broken, so risk is minimal. It shouldn't be too difficult. Just keep track of where every part and screw goes. Lay it out on a table and do it in an organized fashion. You'll be fine.

I do OK with a toothpick and shining a light down. That said the pins frequently fatigue and snap when you are bending them back which definitely ends up needing a replacement.

As others have said it is broken anyway, it should have protection in the event you short the wrong pins.

Well, ds lites are very cheap at this point. If you break it, a replacement isn't gonna break the bank.

I suppose I should have done this sooner uploading images for context of how bad it is, it's that one super bent tab that i think is the issue

whatever you decide, remember to take the battery out first, so you don't accidentally short anything if you bump the power slider.
