No problem bro. I'm not sure of the limit, I put 3 arcade games on 1 folder last night (Sunset Riders, Outrun, TMNT2) which was about 44MB and I didn't have any issues.

I would still stick to about 30-40MB per folder but with these there's no saving so you might be able to fit more.

I'd be curious to know the limits as well. I was just watching a MAME2003 video (the one I linked above) and I can't wait to try some more arcade stuff!

I believe you need to "bind" you buttons so that A on your controller is actually A in Retroarch. You need to so this with all your buttons.

Go into the RA menu, then access the bindings in there to change them.

I have 19 MAME roms on my NES. 10 in one folder, 9 in another. No issues.

Help! Have got an 8bitdo receiver and a nes30 pad and just synced it. Only problem is that the y,x,l,r buttons are picked up as a,b,a turbo, b turbo in the SNES emulator. I thought they would work as regular SNES buttons from reading previous posts here. Can anyone help? Many thanks

You need to update the firmware drivers to the receiver first, the stock drivers on it can only map A,B and Turbo A,B.
I believe there are new firmware drivers here: http://download.8bitdo.com/Tools/Receiver/NesMini/8Bitdo_NesMini_RR_Firmware_V105_beta3.zip

Once done use the following guide I made on page 320: https://gbatemp.net/threads/hakchi2-nes-mini-very-simple-pimp-tool.456256/page-320#post-7128622

Let me know if you have any issues.

Yea, I was thinking about that too, but I like other versions as well and the HSF2 seems like a 5 in 1 version where you can choose to play Street Fighter 2, Champion, Turbo, SSF2, or SSF2T. I may just run SSF2T as well and be done with it. Which version is best? I'm assuming Arcade as the only other one is GBA.
I prefer SSF2T because it's not bloated with all the extra stuff. Plus in HSF2, you can mess up the game's balance by mixing and matching the characters and game styles.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 runs well on the NESC too. For fighting games, I have SSF2T, SFA3, Samurai Shodown II and Marvel vs Capcom. I also have MK2 and UMK3, but those have sound problems.

Did you try tmnt1 At all? Or just 2?

Anyone knows what brings this random error in the screenshot below when synchronizing the games ?
Sometimes I get it, sometimes the sync works.
The paths referring to the source files in D: drive are not relevant, I don't have the source files installed (those I download will generate version 2.13 with the led bug, not 2.13e).
Thanks.

Which 2 do I need?

Is that for the 4 payer simpsons arcade or the 2 player.
download "simpsn2p.zip" & "simpsons.zip" into a new folder, lets call it "SimpsonsArcade". Take everything INSIDE of SimpsonsArcade (not the folder itself) and ZIP it up
into a file called "simpsn2p.zip" (the name of the 2-player version).

Then take that new zip you created with both games (simpsn2p.zip that you just made) and load it into Hakchi2. Then goto the file and change /bin/zip to /bin/mame2003
and add your cover art and you sir are good to go!

I would just re-download hakchi2, save it to a NEW folder.. and try to take a dump again. Then when that works you can copy
your games over from your older version of Hakchi2. This will rule out a bunch of factors such as if you accidentally deleted a file or
messed something up.

Also, make sure you use the USB cable that came w your NES mini.

What version of NBA Jam TE are you using? I wanted to use the latest, but they removed the secret characters after rev 2, so I went to that one. I'm thinking of loading the SNES version and using a romhack on it. There is one that updates the roster to 2k17 and has a few secret characters as well. If I remember correctly, each system had different secret characters. I did test Rev 2 of arcade and was able to select the Grim Reaper. Just FYI

I'm using just the parent ROM which is rev 4.0. Good to know on the changes. Which version has the best secrets?

First question - What, any 2 of the ones I listed? Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is must-have. As for the other, if you like sports, NBA Jam TE can't be missed. Otherwise TMNT, a classic.

Second question - it's the 2 player version

No in the picture which 2 of these 3 files do I need. And how can I get 4 player Simpson to work. Or do I just need 2 player to be able to select anyone

I can't tell from the link. but you want two files. One will be called tmnt.zip and the other will be tmnt2po.zip. For Simpsons, find the parent ROM, (I assume it's simpsons.zip) and also find simpsn2p.zip

Can I copy my exact system, including retroarch controller settings, retroarch border settings, ECT. Onto a friend's fresh NES mini and have it looking/playing exactly the same as mine? Has anybody done this? And what steps should I take? Thanks!

The first one. For Turtles in Time, I opted for the SNES version.

The RetroArch settings are saved on the machine itself, and cannot be moved to Hakchi. You can bring Hakchi with you to use on your friend's NESC. I would recommend not copying the dump file from your Hakchi, and letting Hakchi dump the original kernel from his NESC. Make sure he saves that. Then you can install the modules and ROMs onto his machine just like yours.

Ok perfect. You possibly know which 2 files I need for turtles in time?

According to the mame2003 database, it looks like you want tmnt2.zip (parent) and tmnt22p.zip (child). Combine the files in one new ZIP and name it tmnt22p.zip.
Simpsons 2 player and Simpson 4 player. If I get 2 player can both players select any character? Or do I need the 4 player? Or some combined 2 player and 4 player file
