Was looking at the Switch's teardown and saw this (Step10)

Nintendo made the "internal" memory replacable.

I would not be surprised if the eMMC chip only works with the console it came from.
It probably has some sort of OTP.bin file on it indicating that the eMMC chip belongs to a specific console. I wonder if that's the case, would the console refuse to bott with another console's eMMC chip. I also was thinking that Nintendo did the easily swappable eMMC chip (or NAND chip in this case) because so many people are sending in NAND bricked 3DS's and Wii U's for repair so, they don't want to replace the entire motherboard to repair a system but only replace the eMMC chip.

Dude. Just, just stop already. Seriously, every post of yours that I have seen today is utter bullshit. The switch does NOT have a NAND chip, it IS eMMC flash memory. And what the fuck is this about an OTP.bin file?!? Do you even have a fucking clue what an OTP is? Only reason why there is an OTP.bin file for the wii u is because there is a homebrew app that extracts the data from the OTP and writes it to an SD card in a file named otp.bin, otherwise there is no such thing as an OTP.bin file on the console when it comes out of the factory.
And just to let you know, Nintendo does not need to replace the motherboard for a console being bricked. They have ways of reading and writing data to the flash memory. Hell, if us stupid hackers can figure out a way then I can promise you that this multi billion dollar company doesn't need to throw away motherboards like it's a bic lighter.

Just stop posting things that you really have no fucking clue about.

The eMMC flash memory chip is possibly equivalent to NAND, which is what we have had in Nintendo consoles in the past. 2nd, there has to be a file equivalent to the OTP.bin file that compares the OTP key of the console so the console would know whether the eMMC chip is its own or not.

DUDE! NO! eMMC and NANDs are absolutely different. And, like I said, you have absolutely NOOOOO fucking clue what an OTP and what is in it or how encryption and keys work.

The OTP stores the per console keys that are used to encrypt the flash memory, which is eMMC in this case. When the console boots up it pulls the keys from the OTP and uses it to unencrypt the flash memory. Now, use your brain here and think for a second. What would happen if the console used it's keys to try to unencrypt some data that was encrypted with a different key??? Absolutely nothing would fucking happen. It would not be able to unencrypt the data so the console would not be able to boot any fucking further because it would not get the data it needs. How would it be able to compare a file to something in the OTP if it can't even read a file because it is encrypted!! And if everything was as easy as you thought it was then us hackers could EASILY write some stupid otp.bin on the flash memory and then we would have all the fucking hacks in the world. It doesn't work like that.

What would happen if you tried to use your keys to get in someone elses house? Nothing! The fucking door would not open. You would not get to see inside the house, you would not get to feel the carpet. Absol-fucking-lutely nothing.

Seriously. Stop talking as if you have any idea. You are gonna cause someone to fuck up badly because they are trusting what you are say, but you don't even understand these basic fucking concepts. So seriously, shut the fuck up and go back to masturbating over furry porn or whatever.

Nintendo most likely have internal tools to reflash the OS after replacing the eMMC (a la Apple's PurpleRestore)

Why would they need to replace a chip? Its just a flash memory, you can think of it as a soldered-on sd card.
Removable eMMC does save some space on motherboard though and its much faster to reflash than attaching some sort of pogo-pins adapter to test points.

DeadlyFoez, it appears the part numbers for what is called "NAND" in the 3DS actually correspond to products marketed by Samsung and Toshiba as being "eMMC"-enabled flash memory parts. Thus, most 3DS references to NAND are, in fact, references to an eMMC storage device.

Of course, bennyman123abc did NOT properly described the OTP or how the NAND is locked to a given 3DS console. But, if he was coming from the 3DS side of things, his comments on the eMMC chip are reasonable.

DeadlyFoez, could you help us understand what you understand the term "NAND", at least as used when referring to "Nintendo consoles in the past"?
