Hardware PSP UMD Storage Solution?

Hi folks, recently been noticing the white PSP game case splitting in half, like a lot of them... would it be safe to store the loose discs in a CD binder or get a replacement case for the loose discs? I have a little over a hundred games (Japanese) and wasn't sure if getting replacement cases be beneficial. The initial plan was to store the all the loose disc in a CD binder and when I want to play a game, pop the disc in a replacement case and play. But from what I heard:
1] the replacement cases are not reusable, once you clamp it together, it's stuck for good
2] some replacement cases are not compatible with the PSP because of the pin hole placements
3] PSP discs are prone to scratches

All my games are stored in a box and proves difficult to sort through which was why I came up with the CD storage binder. Thought putting the games in there was okay but it got bulky... then thought of removing the white caddy case and just store the disc itself but that creates more issues. How is everyone storing their games? Any viable solutions?

First, get your ass a proper CFW, like 6.61 PRO-C.

Then rip them all to ISO files for your memory card, and you'll be able to keep your UMDs and it's UMD drive in better condition for far longer. And a CD binder will do just fine for long-term UMD storage.

Back in the day, when my PSP cases broke, all I did was gluing them together. Carefully ofcourse. And they're still working fine.

I just dump the games first and then store them in their box.

Then rip them all to ISO files for your memory card, and you'll be able to keep your UMDs and it's UMD drive in better condition for far longer. And a CD binder will do just fine for long-term UMD storage.

I've almost pau with backing up all the games, just lazy to get it all done... It's those nostalgic moments where I like to pop in a disc to play games and listen to that grinding noise the PSP makes when loading games that had me concern about the white caddy the actual disc is in... Those thing don't last that long. Should I just replace all of them or just glue together whatever is falling apart?

I've seen aftermarket PSP game disc shells, they actually snap together so they are much more reliable than the official ones. But you can also use super glue if you have a steady hand and patience.

usually stuff by sony is high quality (or used to be)
it was not only a bold move to use optical discs in a portable, but making them with plastic cages..
the purpose of thoose cases is to protect the discs, but they do a really shitty job.. specially when they are bad quality and when they break, the disc is still MINT condition but without the cage is pretty useless..
i am not sure about the 2000 and up console models. but i had a 1000 model, and the cage was required (you could put the disc in there and hope it snaps into it's place, but the metal holder would surely scratch the disc, so i never actually tried and don't know if that would work...

If its split on the seam then scotch tape along the seam will keep it from getting worse. trim it with an exacto blade and it will be pretty much invisible and you can always remove it. If the top window is coming lose, then superglue is the best option. Its easy to overdo it with superglue. The other place they fail is right at the UMD cutout where the white frame is weakest. You can try superglue there but eventually you'll have to replace the shell. I salvage the original UMD shell where I can and only replace it as a last resort.

As for storage, I keep the few loose discs I have in UMD-8 cases or single disc UMD jackets. People used to go the altoids/pringles route too, but I'd rather keep them in the original UMD cases.
