Hey guys, great information on this thread, thank you for all of the knowledge.

I flashed a friends NESC last night and it took much more time than expected.
I ended up finishing it up but for some reason had to redo a few things that were really time consuming.

What is the easiest way to take someone's NES who hasn't flashed it before and just make it exactly like mine?
I have two more friends asking me to do it and don't feel like spending 3 more hours on each one.

What I did last night was as follows:
  1. Took everything on my desktop (using virtualbox) and put that into a folder on my desktop.
  2. I copied 3 folders from my existing hakchi2 to my desktop. Config, Games and Folder Images.
  3. I then download a fresh copy of hakchi2 and release, unzipped them and opened the program.
  4. Opened hakchi2
  5. Checked off some settings for custom folders, etc.
  6. Dumped kernel for new NESC
  7. Asked me to flash custom kernel after that so I did
  8. Installed extra modules for Retroarch, SNES, Genesis, etc.
  9. Dragged Config (config.ini and folders.xml files), Games and Folder Images into hakchi2 to override to the games, configuration, etc.
  10. Went to synchronize games and asked me to flash custom again? I did, no issues. (why did it ask to flash again?)
  11. Got into the folder manager and noticed no games were there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Folder structure was in tact though, folder images, etc.)
  12. Took videos on my NES with all of the games that I had in the folders (I have 900+ in my games folder in hakchi but only had 429 checked off to sync to the NESC)
  13. Scrolled though my videos, checked off each game in one folder, went to folder manager, put them in correct folder, saved, repeat.
  14. After a few hours I finished up and synced the games and all was well.
Sorry for the long winded post here but why did I have to go through and check off each game i wanted to sync again?
I thought the config folder kept all of those settings, no?

Certainly there must me an easier way to do this.

Also, are the patches to games automatically applied in a scenario like this or should I have copied that folder too?

If someone says all i had to do is removed the dump folder and go from there I'll lose it, lol!

What a first post, haha, thanks guys.

I gave up on getting N64 running. Games are too buggy. Hydro Thunder runs well for about 5 minutes before crashing.

Star Fox 64 runs well, but it's very dark for some reason.
Yeah Mario kart crashes too. I took it right back off and I'm done with 64 for now. I'm fine with my wi u for 64 games.

Anyone with any success stories for adding TurboGrafx16 CD games? Would love to get Fighting Street (aka the original Street Fighter) going.
They look to be pretty large files.

I'm sticking with my PC with HDMI out to my TV. At least then I can get 60fps, 1080p, full AA and AF. And it's time to invest in either an N64 to USB adaptor or a decent N64-style PC controller.

Hi.

I developed ROM-management tool for NES Mini.

Hi !

First thing : Thank you Cluster for this hack.

But I have a couple of questions (maybe stupid questions), I have updated my Hakchi2 version from v2.11 to v2.13e,
I copied the file from the v2.13e to the folder of my V2.11 and replaced all the old files, is it good or do I have something else to do ?

And finally, Did the games that I Applied patch on (Battletoads for exemple), in previous version V2.11 of Hackchi stay patched after that in V2.13e ?
Or do I have to erase them and install them again to repatch them ? Sorry for those stupid questions, but I'm a Beginner.

Thanks a lot !!

I can answer the second one. Battletoads (and any other game that requires a patch) is permanently patched, so it will work with any version.

All I ever do is copy and paste my folder to another area folder on my desktop then go into the folder I have just copied and delete my dump folder and open app go to sync games and follow all on screen instructions. Then add my modules etc. Hook it up to my tv and it's all sorted 20 mins later

Thanks for your answer !

Can you specify what you call "permanently patched" please ?
Because I remember having to confirm to apply the patch on v2.11, this is perfect if it keep the patch when I copy the "games" file ton new hakchi2 version.

Have a nice day, and thanks again !

No but street fighter one using mame 2003 works perfect

The original street fighter is supported by mame2003. You could try that version perhaps.

I figured I may have been overthinking it... I think I followed more of a process to move to new version vs. flashing a new device.

Merci a toi.

I made a video with the reddit overlays from stayupthetree. Interesting to make a better configuration, this can make great for NES games...

Please, enjoy!

Rgs.

agreed, it could look great, would love to see a simple to use hmod that could put a single overlay (set up to the right size) for all the games on the system

Is there a MAME tutorial anywhere here......for version 2.13e been looking everywhere....Maybe there isn't one?
___________________________________________________________________________
I made one a bit ago, and posted on the forums here. I copied it again for you, hope this helps a bit.

MAME2003 SETUP:

Here's what you do
(I put all the files needed in one spot for convenience in installing mame):

1. Install the retroarch module first (retroarch.hmod)
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame-Support-Files

Download and put this folder (retroarch.hmod) into user_mods, and install the module from the Hakchi2 menu>Modules>Install Extra Modules.

2. Install Mame2003 Module (mame2003.hmod)
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame-Support-Files/blob/master/mame2003.hmod

Download and put this file (mame2003.hmod) into user_mods, and install the module from the Hakchi2 menu>Modules>Install Extra Modules.

3. Then let's say you want to play pac-man (you know you do)...
Download pac.man.zip here:
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame-Support-Files/blob/master/Mame2003 Roms/pacman.zip

Pull the pac-man zip into the hakchi2 program, choose 'import as archive'.

On the command line, put this (or something similar-your directories might be slightly different): /bin/mame2003 /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-Z-OYAEV/pacman.zip
(a space needs to be after 'mame2003')

If you need mame samples, you can install 'bios_images.hmod' (In case sounds are missing in some games like Donkey Kong or Galaga.)

Mame 2003 uses Mame romset 0.78.

If you need more mame2003 roms, download the torrent I provided. The torrent contains 44.3 GB, but you can choose to download only a few if you wish.
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame-S...et_MAME0.78_ROMs_CHDs_Samples_archive.torrent
Name is: MAME2003_Reference_Set_MAME0.78_ROMs_CHDs_Samples_archive
